I agree with Roskilde and Polyesco.

It really is a pity that some of the events, meetings and research especially the men in the DRF do, isn't highlighted more.
It really is annoying when people who only read headlines think that all Frederik does is either to be an accessory to Mary or go skiing somewhere and all Joachim is doing is selling manors.

BB inform that Frederik, Mary and all four children today has arrived to Marselisborg where they will spend some days during the Easter with Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik.

The Crown Prince family arrived by car and they always spend Easter at Marselisborg with the Regent Couple.

I'm almost 100 % sure they comes straight from their beloved Trend where they probably have spend the first days during the Easter holiday. It's nearby Marselisborg. On now they continues to Marselisborg.

:previous: How nice! Hope they have a great Easter break with the Queen and Henrik.
From the article it says they are staying in the building next to the main house, which we saw a bit of in the documentary :flowers:
"Along with their four children, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary moved into Kavalerbygningen, located next to the castle itself. It was here that the crown prince in his time lived while studying at Aarhus University."

Mary and Christian were spotted buying sneakers at a sports wear shop yesterday. :flowers:

"Met up e/ bestie, went to Sports wear store. Crown princess Mary & older son Christian was there buying him new sneakers"

A new large and very knowledgeable interview with Crown Princess Mary in the serious newspaper Berlingske:

»Vold mod kvinder er den mest udbredte forbrydelse mod menneskerettighederne« - Nationalt | www.b.dk

Great new pictures:

Mary tells with a deep and dedicated knowledge about her large humanitarian work with a particular focus on the work against violence against women. Crown Princess Mary is the host and patron of the upcoming world largest women's conference to be held in Copenhagen in May.

The interview starts with: If there is anyone who know everything about this topic it is Crown Princess Mary. And it's undoubtedly correct. Read the interview and you will see a woman who is 120% into her work. Refreshing with a royal interview with completely focus on serious talk about work. Not a word about privacy or things like that. I like that.

"By nature, I'm very thoroughly. I have been brought up to always give my best and do my best, and I always try to do."

- Quote H.R.H Crown Princess Mary

:previous: Great phrase because that is exactly what I have admired and respected Mary from day one.

Behind the interview:
Berlingske has during a visit with Crown Princess Mary in Ethiopia last year, agreed in during this interview with the Crown Princess as patron of women's rights in the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), Maternity Foundation and the Danish Refugee Council. Text and pictures are approved by the court before publication.

**

I also noticed Mary's impressively rich, nuanced Danish language and vocabulary through the interview. I will go so far to say she speaks Danish on a higher level than me.

I agree.

Mary's understanding, mastery and use of Danish is at what I will label a "very well-educated level" had she been a native.

That she has a distinct accent and make the odd grammatical mistake doesn't detract from that fact.

:previous: that is great to hear. a wonderful interview on the dedication and work by Mary

"Crown Princess effort is very important. She is an excellent advocate, and what she does is that she spreads the message out to a larger audience and explains that this is an important agenda if we want to make the world a peaceful place. People listen not just because she is the crown princess, but also because she is very committed. The head of the UN Population Fund since 2010, Babatunde Osotimehin."

I'll leave it to the mods to decide whether this should be classified as an event or a private thing.

Kronprins Frederik og Anne Linnet: Sammen i verdens hårdeste skiløb | BILLED-BLADET
Billed Bladet writes today that Frederik will take part in Artic Circle Race on the 1st April.

It's the 20th anniversary for this three day long and 160 Km long race on skis.
This year 223 participants from fourteen countries will take part.

Frederik is quoted for saying that: "I'm looking forward to a lovely experience in Greenland".

Arctic Circle Race is considered if not the hardest race on skis, then certainly among the hardest in the world.

the race starts tomorrow and Frederik has arrived in Greenland

Tonight, the Regent Couple receives a torchlight procession at Fredensborg Palace.

When Frederik and Mary lived permanently in the Chancellery House at Fredensborg Palace, they always took part in the torch procession along with Margrethe and Henrik.

And it is always cozy, warm and intimate pictures. (I guess pictures from tonight soon will be online...) BB has on tonight's occasion made a gallery with some of the recents year's torchlight procession:

And who can resist these pictures of F&M?
Well, Mary definitely couldn't resist her husband and had to caress Frederik's cheek

What is the history or Meaning behind this procession?

:previous: Been trying to look into the history, but so far didn't find anything concrete.

Anyway, it's the local's, including the local Home Guard and scouts, way to welcome the Regent Couple back to Fredensborg for the summer. It is after all an official residence for several months and that matters to a very small town.

The thing about torch processions, which are quite common, are part practical and part cozy.
Practical because such processions are most practical in the evening in a agrarian society where the work ends around sunset.
Cozy because we are absolutely possessed with candle-lights in this country! :p A torch basically being a big candle. :w00t:
And it does look more spectacular and there is a very special atmosphere in a torch procession. A feeling of closeness and togetherness. Not to mention that the torches warm during a winter night and that adds to the mood.
I'm not sure how popular torch-processions were beforehand but certainly after the defeat in the Second Schleswigan War in 1864 they also very much became a nationalist statement. A way to deal with the trauma of that war.

Having said all that DK by no means have a monopoly on torch processions, they are extremely common in Northern Europe.

today Frederik begins the three day Arctic Circle Race in Greenland

yesterday
"Arctic Circle Race 2016, attended by the Crown Prince, and he also joined the procession in common worship, which marks the beginning of the hard skiing."

almost the end of day 1

"Crown Prince doing fine
The Crown Prince and his friends was not wasting much time drinking before they went on to the final loop at the Arctic Circle Race day 1.. There was still energy left to both smiling and talking, and the spirit was high, at the fabulous sunny race day in the Arctic. "

We can always rely on Polyesco giving us a good coverage of her Frederik. Thanks. :flowers:

Nice Facebook interview where Frederik expressed his fondness for Greenland, the nature and its people.

:previous:;);)
thank you and the other Danish members for translations/summaries of videos and articles:flowers:
he looks very in tune with the community, I liked that he took part of the procession. As always Greenland looks close to his heart.
Im glad he was finally able to take part of this race, especially for the 20th anniversary.

The Danish Ski Federation (Danmarks skiforbund) just published an article about ACR 2016

another video and article
Kronprins Frederik før verdens hårdeste skiløb: Hvis man bare tror på det gode i alt - TV 2

"- ARC has the last 3-4 years been a thing to be tested before being too old. It is the 20th time it is held, and I am looking very much forward, said Crown Prince Frederik shortly before the start.- On a day like today is Greenland so bright and beautiful. That's what we all hope for. We have not always, but if you are positive and believe in the good in everything, you get such a day as today, said Crown Prince Frederik."

"Arctic Circle Race takes place entirely in the open countryside, where the temperature does not seem to get above freezing at any time. In the night it can even be down to about 17 degrees below zero - but it does not frighten Crown Prince Frederik.
- No, it is a question that you have to remember that there are two days ahead on the first day. As little economy forces - that is what I am going to feel after myself."

the first day has ended
"The danish crown prince crossed the finish line at time after 5hours, 52minutes and 38secondes at ACR's first day. He came in with a good mood and full of energy. Now he is relaxing and getting something to eat. At the camp he has to prepare his own food before he has to sleep in a tent at the camp like the rest of the participants, which is one of the reasons that ACR is called the world's toughest ski race. :previous: I agree that Frederik looks like he's having a good time there (although the ACR must be exhausting!) He's in his element on Greenland and it's wonderful to see. Speaking of being in his element, I saw a really lovely comment about Frederik on a Greenlandic article about the Arctic Circle Race: "Other countries can learn from Greenlandics, our Crown Prince can run freely and safely amongst all common people – by the look on his face, you can tell he's relaxed and feels home here."

The love between Frederik and Greenland is definitely mutual

Really wonderful to read, thank you for sharing . Greenland loves him, and the feeling is clearly mutual.
Frederik said that he has been thinking about this race for the past 4 years, so it's lovely that he has finally being able to experience it.

Thanks for all the coverage of Frederik during this weekend's ACR :flowers:

Greenland is the owner of the most beautiful landscape, isn't it? Particularly when the sun shines from a blue sky.

Frederik may soon reach the finish line and implement the ACR now......

Here is a video of Frederik getting a mountain renamed after him along the way - I see Frederik has no more hurry to implement the ACR than he took good time to a chat and a hug

Frederik wanted to reach to complete the world's toughest skiing (160 kilometers) before he was too old. It has been a desire for the last 4-5 years. Today he did it.

Thanks, Roskilde and Polyesco. :flowers:

Your Frederik did well.

There are not that many athletes who after a race can say: "Yeah, well, I finish a little later than intended because I had to name a mountain under way." - Not even our national soccer team has come up with an excuse like that! :D

BB also report about the jubilant response from the Greenlanders, when Frederik finished as number 52 in the race. (I don't know off hand how many completed).

Congratulations to all Danes and Greenlanders for such a fit Crown Prince and biggest congratulations of course to the Crown Prince himself! :flowers: Such an accomplishment and I loved the video posted to show his finish. Interesting that he was looking for someone to hug; certainly not the crazy journalist wanting him to speak into her microphone as he arrived with exhaustion streaming down his face:ohmy:but a lucky grey haired Greenlander whom he seemed to know and who was allowed to receive his warm hugs:lol: Do board members know who she is:whistling:

BB just write that she was a local women.

And here is a great BT gallery: http://www.bt.dk/royale/fantastiske-billeder-royal-deltagelse-ved-verdens-haardeste-skiloeb

There were 223 who started so finishing as number 52, the first time he takes part, is IMO pretty impressive!
