Diana's Royal Orders

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Thanks for the answers to my question. I did not have time to read through the thread at the time I posted or I would have seen it had already been answered.

Regardless of the marriage being rocky by the time Diana would have (maybe) been eligible for the GCVO, one thing has stuck out about Diana with me and that when it came to working for the monarchy and the Queen, Diana really wasn't much of a team player. I do have to credit a rocky marriage partially for this because, face it, Charles and Diana were not a team in and of themselves in the first place.

There's been numerous reports that, at first, Diana was reluctant to "do the homework" needed surrounding her upcoming engagements and then, by the time she would have adapted to her role as The Princess of Wales, it had slowly developed into the "Diana show"

The GCVO is recognition for services and support of the monarch and to be real, that simply wasn't Diana's MO. It doesn't surprise me one bit that she never received it.

Please note that posts that go way beyond the topic of the thread have been deleted. If members wish to re-discuss the marriage of Charles and Diana, they may do so in the thread specifically for that topic.

Diana, Princess of Wales only had two foreign orders:
  • 1982: Supreme Class of the Order of the Virtues (or Order of al-Kamal) (Egypt)
  • 18 November 1982: Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown, bestowed by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands

And no british order apart from QEII’s family order…

By the time she normally would have been made a GCVO, the marriage was already in pieces since long… QEII most likely saw where it was heading

She would probably have got more, if the Brits would not be so sparse with bestowing british Orders

You are right. But the BRF have an established tradition of offering orders to Heads of State, but not their spouses. That is just the way it is.
