Yes, from a little Danish puppet state to one of the richest countries on earth! Not too bad, if I may say so.

In contrast to Sweden, where the gala dinner was only sent online, the gala dinner in Oslo will be broadcast live on Norway's largest TV Channel, NRK1. It will most likely also be broadcast on TV2 News Channel. And I'm pretty sure that there will be live links online that work outside Norway.
There will most likely also be coverage of the welcome ceremony.
But whether it will be on the scale that we saw when William and Kate were here in 2018 (when NRK and TV2 went gaga and sent for several hours on both days) remains to be seen. But unfortunately, I doubt it.
Perhaps it will be a bit more like what we saw with the Dutch state visit in 2021, that TV2 News Channel will turn live during the main events, but nothing on NRK (apart from the welcome ceremony and gala dinner).
It's not possible to get information from NRK's TV guide since NRK1 only sends news in the daytime anyway! Same with TV2 News Channel.

Indeed very much alike but some differences:
- Denmark has less power distance than Norway and Sweden (so the most egalitarian of the three) and scores a bit higher on Motivation towards Achievement and Success (but all are on the lower end - meaning they are focused on consensus over competition - with Denmark slightly more competitive).
- Norway is an exception in terms of Uncertainty Avoidance, while Denmark and Sweden score on the lower end, Norway is at the mid-point. This means that Denmark and Sweden are relatively fine with uncertainty and less in need of structure and predictability.
- Norway is also the exception in terms of Indulgence; being very close to the mid-point, while Denmark and Sweden score higher, indicating placing a stronger emphasis on leisure time, fun and enjoying life.

The wealth comes with a prize - literally. Agricultural products are insanely pricey in Norway. Not sure how it is now, but you used to buy slices of cucumbers, not whole cucumbers.
And if we were to rent a cabin in Norway for a week we would do like the Germans who come to DK: bring most of the food ourselves.
The reason not least being that while there are plenty of fish in Norway, farmland is much scarcer.
While the links between in particular Copenhagen and Sweden are pretty tight, they are less connected to Norway. But here in Jutland there are pretty strong links to Norway (and Germany), but less so to Sweden.
I think there are quite a few similarities between Jutland and Norway, certainly in regards to work ethics. We are also more introverted than Copenhageners, so there is a similarity as well.
However, it is very true that Danes tend to be a lot more impulsive, loud and direct than both Swedes and Norwegians. Probably something to do with our hot climate...
Consensus (what Danes would call pussyfooting) is IMO very much an issue in Sweden, almost cultivated in fact. Despite what the Swedes may think about a subject for themselves, they will always try to reach a consensus.
I have often described Denmark and the Danes as a tribe or a large village where we very much have a deep village-mentality ingrained in our culture and mindset. That is even more pronounced in Norway! Even to the point that different parts of Norway can form a sub-village-culture of their own. Presumably something to do with Norway being further away from Central Europe for most of the existence of the country.
The connection between Norway and Denmark was certainly beneficial in Denmark. A number of our most renowned Danish sea-farers and naval heroes came from Norway. Because there was a considerable brain and talent drain from Norway to Denmark, for the very simple reason that if you wanted a career or even a higher education you had to go to Denmark. Some returned later on to Norway and prospered there. But back when Denmark and Norway was a dual monarchy, Denmark was an even bigger merchant nation than today (today we are the 5th largest shipping nation) so that meant work and money flowing back, also to Norway where there were considerable investments in foresting but also pre-industrical-revolution factories, because of the many opportunities for water mills to operate there.
In a sense you can say that the Norwegians (and Icelanders) provided the sailors. Denmark provided the farmers (mainly cattle actually) and shipping companies. Those from Schleswig & Holstein provided the merchants and the civil servants/administrators. While foreigners, not least the Dutch, provided the artisans and intellectual elite. And combined they made this region pretty prosperous. Albeit a bit provincial.
How about Greenland you ask? Well, the population of Greenland at the time consisted of 279 inhabitants if you counted the sleigh dogs and anyway Danes and Norwegians only returned in earnest to Greenland during the 1720s or so with the missionary Hans Egede. And as DK and Norway split in 1814 that's not that relevant in the history of the dual kingdom.
But, during the 1930s DK and Norway almost came to blows over north east Greenland.
Norway claimed it was uninhabited and wanted to claim it for Norway. Denmark claimed it was indeed inhabited, there are a dozen or so cabins with European hunters, supplied by a yearly Danish ship (during the years it could get through the ice that is). Anyway, the whole things was settled at an international court, one of the first major disputes settled in that way and Norway lost. And that is also one of the reasons why the Sirius Patrol was founded, simply to ensure Danish/Greenlandic sovereignty.

"The Danish and Norwegian royal families are close ties. A relationship that dates back to when the Danish Prince Carl was elected King of Norway in 1905, and was named King Haakon VII. His brother became King Christian X of Denmark a few years later.
The ties have since been tight, both between the countries and the two royal families. Queen Margrethe has spent a snowy holiday in Norway, King Frederik was best man in the wedding of the Crown Prince couple and both Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit are the godfather of Denmark's Crown Prince Christian, while King Fredrik is the godfather of Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, we are looking forward to receiving the Danish royal couple on a state visit to Norway!

I approve of any pictures of Frederik in a tuxedo. LOL. How wonderful that he's maintained such a close friendship with Haakon and Mette-Marit all these years. I knew he was Haakon's best man, but I didn't realize he attended Ingrid's confirmation a few years ago, much less brought Christian with him. Did Mary go as well?

All 3 attended. Frederik is Ingrid-Alexandra's godfather. They are very close, along with being very close with Crown Princess Victoria. The 3 couples are very close friends/family.
Per Billed Bladet, King Frederik and Queen Mary boarded the royal yacht early Monday morning and will sail the entire way to Norway. For Sweden they flew into Stockholm and then board the royal yacht. This time, they will sail on board the entire way.

NRK 1 (the national Norwegian broadcaster) will send live from the state visit from 9:30 tomorrow morning. They will most likely cover the welcome ceremony. Later they will broadcast from 19:45 from the Royal Palace in Oslo for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Yes Muhler, not an unknown temperature here, even in Sydney, but especially for Tasmanians.
My sister’s house gets so cold down there, you can see your breath if you move to an unheated room.
Would be brisk on the decks of the Dannebrog … a vessel underway across a large expanse of water … but, would make you feel alive.
I think the couple may not realise how many people are filming them when they are aboard.
Another YouTube has been posted of the arrival the other day, and after they stood on deck for the sail in, Queen Mary went back inside while the vessel was tied up and made ready.
Someone caught her through the windows having a bit more breakfast quickly. (A few nibbles while standing.)

What a day!
It was a day that included an open car procession with our two iconic beauties.
First, King Harald and King Frederik in the jewel itself, the Buick Roadmaster Convertible 1939, which took King Haakon VII from the Quay of Honour to the Royal Palace after he returned to Norway after WWII in 1945.
And Queen Sonja and Queen Mary in the Lincoln Continental Convertible 1966, which was used by CP Harald and CP Sonja during their wedding in 1968 and by CP Haakon and CP Mette-Marit during their wedding in 2001.

NRK1 (Norway's largest TV channel) sent live from the welcoming ceremony, wreath laying ceremony and the visit to the Storting (the parliament).
