Danish Royal Family Christmas: 2003, 2004, 2006-2014, 2016-2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Mary and Frederik in Tasmania on Boxing Day with Christian, Patricia, Jane and her husband, their son Alexander etc. - attending a local basketball match against New Zealand.

Hobart newspaper The Mercury has photos too and a quote from someone who spoke with Mary.

The team signed jerseys for them.

This report also says all the Danish children attended. (There is a photo of personalised jerseys for them all.)

How nice. A sporty day out. You can see Frederik and Mary and all 4 surrounded by family, cousins and Mary's sisters.

That's delightful.

Vincent has seen he's on the screen. And urging the others to wave. - He's grandma-bait in DK. Perhaps now in Tasmania as well?

Do we know who it is Christian is speaking with? Presumably a relative of Mary.

I think Frederik was a good sport in agreeing to a selfie. I don't think that little gesture has lowered his standing among the Tasmanians. And he is after all on holiday.

At which church did Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary and their children attend a Christmas service?

Not at all, if anything, makes him more popular!

Looks like CP Mary and family are having a fabulous time. You can tell Australia is very special to CP Frederik

If I'm not mistaken, Christian is seated next to Patricia's daughter Mollie (who's closest in age to Mary's kids). I think her son Michael is in the same row as Mary but I don't see her oldest daughter Madisson. Then it's Jane's daughters, Erin (middle flower girl at the wedding), between Vincent and Isabella, and Kate (right flower girl), in the row behind Christian. And Jane's son Alexander is next to Frederik (who has Patricia's husband on the other side).

So true! From the beginning, it's been clear that Frederik feels right at home in Australia.

Hope the family had a nice restful break, especially with their Aussie family and friends

They are due to be at the 1st January reception aren't they?

Thanks polyesco.

Frederik looks a bit out of control in his leap, but good he had a go.

I bet there are so many photos yet to be released, even though the moment has passed so to speak.

I saw a couple of nice ones in Oz media of Vincent with Mary.

He looks like a nice boy who really likes his Mum and being with her. (And he did look a bit concerned in the photos of Mary’s jump.)

Meanwhile summer goes on here and even the New Year is old news, let alone Christmas.

Must have been hard to return to the cold after such a short trip.

Though maybe Mary and the younger children where here a while before they were detected and photographed.

I saw a police boat near some boats on the Harbour before the Shellhouse photo came out.

Police boats of that size don’t just sit about, and it wouldn’t be for any celebrity, they don’t get that.

The family had a large, multi-person police boat escort when they were here on the motor yacht in 2017, so maybe they had longer in Australia than it seems.

This year's plan for the family's Christmas days has been released today:

** kongehuset: The Royal Family’s Christmas 2023 **

This year, Marselisborg Palace is once again the setting for The Royal Family’s Christmas.

HM The Queen takes up residence at the palace from 20 December, and The Queen will celebrate Christmas Eve together with The Crown Prince Family and TRH Prince Joachim and Princess Marie and their two children.

HE Count Felix will celebrate Christmas with The Queen and The Royal Family on 25 December, while HE Count Nikolai will spend Christmas abroad.

In connection with The Queen’s stay in Aarhus, there will be a changing of the guard by The Royal Life Guard at Marselisborg Palace every day at 12.00 hrs.

That's gonna be lively this year!
Athena and Josephine together - even in the same municipality - will be like a cage full of budgies on speed!

Good to see Felix there as well. He already seems to have a close relationship with his dad's family, even when Joachim isn't there.

1. december
It is time to open the first door in the Royal House Christmas calendar “Christmas behind the Castle Windows”.
The first look behind the windows takes place in the kitchen of Kronprinsparret's chef, who recently received a helping hand from His Royal Highness Prince Vincent with the apple slice baking. Hundreds of old-fashioned apple slices were to be made for Mary Fonden's Christmas reception, which took place in Frederik VIII's Palace in Amalienborg yesterday

Love that as the years go by you see the kids be more independent. Very cute Vincent

I intend to post the recipe - among other - in the Christmas thread during December.

Vincent is such a handsome boy. I love how seriously he takes his job as sous chef. I love this Danish royal Instagram tradition.

Yeah, he'll be a heart-breaker.

He appears to be left handed.
And while a kitchen my not be unknown territory to him, I don't think it's where he spends most of his time. So he was probably shanghaied for the occasion.

- Which means we may hope to see Josephine doing something as well.

Eml

He is a charmer! During the Royal Run last year he came across one of the participants in Master Chef and spoke to him saying that he had watched him! So maybe he does like cooking or at least assisting! Well done Vincent. I wonder what Josephine will get up to?

I dunno, he had some good techniques with the knife and those stick thingies (yes, I am lost in a kitchen )

Yes, I'm hopping we'll see all kids participate in the calendar. Last year, Christian and Isabella did a walk around

Spanish magazine "HOLA" writes something about a Christmas Gala event on December 20th.
Can please someone translate and if yes inform who might be in attendance.

Happy to help out but best to include the link to the specific article.

There won't be any Christmas Gala event on December 20. December 20 is only the day Queen Margrethe takes up residence at Marselisborg Palace where the family will celebrate Christmas.

I guess you are referring to this Hola article:

** La Navidad de la Familia Real danesa, marcada por la unión y por una gran cena de gala **

The article is based on the information the Palace has given on November 24 about the family's plans for Christmas and talks about previous Christmasses, and nothing new.
