Christian was officially signed on as mate aboard the boat Nanoq (polar bear) with dad as skipper and two very experienced sailors, Anders Myralf and Jesper Riise as mates.
And this was something Christian took very seriously!
For the three days the race went on, Christian started working when they arrived in the morning, like cleaning the deck. When he wasn't working he followed dad around like a shadow taking in what was said and done.
But what was Christians job on the boat? Anders Myralf explains: "He has some very specific tasks to carry out. There are many strings/ropes (whatever you call them on such a boat) that needs to be pulled and he has four ropes that are his job in various situations.
He's done super-well. He's so full of sprite and he doesn't whimper. He just need something to eat, obviously. We make sure to replenish the stores between sailing (i.e. eat)".
Q: Do you see a future skipper in Christian?
AM: "Easily! It might be that he's competing with his dad one day".
Frederik said: "He's done splendidly".
Saturday, Mary showed up in a boat along with the rest of the children. Naturally Mary had a camera with her. After a couple of hours they sailed home.
