Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tour Pakistan

From October 14-18, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Pakistan for a four day tour.

The couple were welcomed by two Pakistani children wearing the traditional dress as they arrived at the Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi. A group of dignitaries also welcomed the couple. The next day, the Duke of Cambridge spoke at a reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan. During the day the Duke and Duchess had visited Islamabad Model College for Girls, and then went to the Margalla Hills; followed by meetings with the country’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, and Imran Khan, the prime minister.

On the third day, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the mountain range of the Hindu Kush, where they went to Chiatibo glacier, a remote glacier in the Himalayas, where they learnt about the effects of global warming and climate change on the surrounding communities.

William and Kate visited another glacier at the Broghill National Park the day afterwards, and also visited a flood site in Bumburet to learn about climate change in Pakistan, as well as viewing a first aid drill. The couple then visited the Kalash Minority Village.

The couple visited Lahore on Oct 17, where they had a go at playing cricket at the National Cricket Academy, and also where the Duke of Cambridge visited a children’s cancer hospital before visiting the SOS Village, which provides housing for over 150 children and young people who are orphans or who have been abandoned.

On their final day in Pakistan, the Cambridges visited an Army dog training centre back in Lahore before they boarded their plane back to Islamabad.
