Prince Harry Leads Armistice Day Service of Remembrance

Prince Harry represented the Queen at the Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum today, Armistice Day.

The Prince, watched on by representatives of the three branches of the Armed Forces and dozens of veterans and their families, laid a wreath at memorial ahead of two minutes silence at 11am. He also delivered a reading of The Soldier, a poem written by Rupert Brooke in 1914 that expresses a deceased soldier’s views on patriotism for England in relation to his sacrifice.

After meeting with some of the veterans, thanking them for their service, Prince Harry was then shown the names of the 16,000+ soldiers killed since 1948 that are etched into the Portland Stone walls of the memorial, including those that were added for the year 2015.
