Belgian Royal Family Remembers Victims of Brussels Attacks

Exactly two months after the Brussels attacks on March 22nd, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended a ceremony in the royal palace of Brussels to commemorate the victims and to pay tribute to the emergency services. The monarchs were joined by King Albert II, Queen Paola, Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire and 500 guests.

In his speech the king said that it should not be forgotten how the attacks scared the survivors. He also spoke about hope and love. On the rememberance wall he noticed that the main message was: “the wish for a better world, faith in humanity despite the atrocities and belief to be one together.”

In the attacks at Brussels Zaventem airport and at the metro station Maalbeek 32 people died and 270 were injured. The attacks were claimed by the terrorist organisation ISIS.
