Happy Birthday Your Majesty! Queen Elizabeth Celebrates in Windsor

Huge crowds have gathered outside Windsor to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday this morning, as she undertook a walkabout through Windsor with the Duke of Edinburgh.

A rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ was performed by the Band of the Coldstream Guards as the Queen exited the Henry VIII Gate to greet the crowds and accept flowers and well wishes.

After walking through the crowd, Queen Elizabeth and the Duke alighted the ‘Queenmobile’, an open-top Range Rover, to drive the remainder of the way.

Once at their destination, the Queen was presented with a birthday cake made by last year’s Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussein.

To a second ‘Happy Birthday’ song, the monarch – who was wearing a spring green coat and matching hat by her senior dresser Angela Kelly, with the diamond Jardine Star Brooch pinned to her shoulder – cut the purple and yellow creation before meeting with other Windsor residents who reach the milestone 90 this year.

She also opened The Queen’s Walkway at the base of Castle Hill during her walkabout.

This evening it is reported that Prince Charles will host a private dinner at Windsor Castle for family and close friends of the Queen to celebrate her birthday.
