35th Wedding Anniversary of the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg
Today, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary.
Grand Duke Henri first met his wife to be María Teresa Mestre y Batista while he was studying in Geneva, Switzerland. The Grand Duke and Duchess tied the knot in a civil ceremony on February 4, 1981. On February 14, 1981 they had a religious ceremony. For the religious ceremony, Maria Teresa wore a silk embossed gown with fur trim by Balmain Couture. She also wore the Congo Diamond Tiara which is part of the Luxembourg royal family jewel collection.
The couple have five children together, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Prince Félix, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra and Prince Sébastien. The couple are grandparents, having two grandsons and one granddaughter.
