Crown Princess Victoria Visits Portugal

Crown Princess Victoria is on a visit to Portugal for the next two days, mainly to attend the Volvo Ocean Race that is being held in Lisbon.

Her hectic day began with a meeting with the Portuguese President, Anibal Cavaco Silva, at his residence. She then visited the Academy of Sciences, where she was given a guided tour of the museum by Secretary General Maria Salomé Pais. Victoria, in a white dress with a multi-colour geometric print, was also presented with a copy of the research project The Linnaeus Apostles Global Science & Adventure that was written by Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in the mid-1700s.

In the afternoon, the Crown Princess – having changed into a lilac sleeveless shift dress – paid a visit to Team SCA at the official Race Village in the Port of Lisbon. Team SCA is the first all-female crew to enter the Volvo Ocean Race in over a decade, and Princess Victoria is their boat’s godmother. During her visit to the village, Victoria was also shown around the Volvo Pavillion by the CEO of the Volvo Ocean Race, Knut Frostad.
