This morning in Madrid, the Princess of Asturias partook in her first holy communion alongside her classmates from the Primaria del Colegio Santa María de los Rosales.

Princess Leonor was accompanied to the Our Lady of Assumption chapel by her parents, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, and her younger sister Sofia. Grandparents from both sides – King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia, Jesus Ortiz y Alvarez and his wife Ana and Paloma Rocasolano y Rodrigeuz – were also present, as was the Princess’s great-grandmother, Menchu Alvarez y Del Valle.

The young Princess was dressed in her formal school uniform instead of a white dress, following the dress code specified by the College.

As she left the chapel following the service that was led by her school chaplain Father Javier, Princess Leonor told reporters that “I’m going to celebrate at home” when asked whether she would be having a party for the occasion.
