Queen Anne-Marie of Greece’s 68th Birthday

On August 30, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece celebrated her sixty eighth birthday.

Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark was born on 30 August 1946 at the Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is the third child of the then Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Ingrid of Denmark, who later became King Frederik and Queen Ingrid. Anne-Marie has two other sisters; Queen Margrethe II of Denmark (born in 1940) and Princess Benedikte of Denmark (born in 1944).

She was christened on 9 October 1946 at Holmen Church in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her godparents were Christian X of Denmark, Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden, Prince Bertil of Sweden, Haakon VII of Norway and Prince George of Greece and Denmark. Her full name was announced as Anne-Marie Dagmar Ingrid.

On 18 September 1964, Anne-Marie married King Constantine of Greece at the Metropolis, the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Athens, Greece. The couple have five children: Princess Alexia (born in 1965), Crown Prince Pavlos (born in 1967), Prince Nikolaos (born in 1969), Princess Theodora (born in 1983) and Prince Philippos (born in 1986). They also have nine grandchildren: Arietta, Ana María, Carlos and Amelia Morales y de Grecia; Princess Maria-Olympia, Prince Constantine Alexios, Prince Achileas Andreas, Prince Odysseas-Kimon and Prince Aristidis-Stavros of Greece and Denmark.
