Well I think Charles is very cute. :D

charles is adorable. no wonder G&S are over the moon! they look so happy in all the pictures after he was born.

Yes, G&S look so different after Charles came to this world, more happy and more relaxed.

He is an adorable cherub with big cheeks. Love the new picture of him :flowers:

Not all babies are cute. And you don't have to think they are cute. But I do find it odd someone posts just to say a baby isn't cute.

I am sure the parents are thrilled to be sharing their first christmas with their little boy. Though next Christmas will be a bit more special when he is a bit older to understand, its still such a special milestone.

I don't think that little Charles is cute.

Oh my, bah humbug:ohmy: Perhaps it's all the love and joy eminating from his parents that make him so adorable. But then those chubby little cheeks, oh, and his big baby grin, ok not in this picture. He's just so darn cute! It's all in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

Delightful interview and pix ! He is really a cutie and his parents really shine !

Which confirms that not yet having a child and heir of themselves weighed heavily on them. Apart from the sadness/grief of not (yet) having their wanted child, they also knew that the whole Grand Duchy was looking at them wondering when they were finally going to have their heir, which must have been an additional burden next to their personal burden.

So, it's wonderful to see how they are blossoming and sharing their joy with the people.

Lovely pictures! Although of course all new parents will look very happy with their baby the HGD couple seems especially besotted and happy with little Charles. They seem to beam from ear to ear in every photo since his birth.

I love the photos. :flowers:

There is such happiness and delight in both the couple in their precious son. And yes, an ease and happiness that was missing before. Their little happy family bubble is complete, well until if and when they add another child.

I love they share so many photos of him with us. We have been spoiled compared to many royal children.

Oh my! Such a cutie! Look at those cheeks! Adorable!

They are truly happy and so in love with their child. I bet that, if everything goes well, they will give Charles a sibling. Both come from big families, and might want a big family of their own. Lovely family ;)

Unfortunately for them it is quite clear that things didn't go well for many years. Early on they expressed the wish for a large family (but not as large as Stephanie's - so that's something we've known from the start) but it clearly didn't go the way they hoped. So, really glad that they at least have this one child; and I am sure they will be thrilled if they will have a second but I don't think they count on 'having a big family' given how long it took for the first one to be born.

Don’t you just want to squeeze those cheeks!! He is a truly adorable baby. And you can tell that he is truly a cherished and very longed-for baby. All babies are special and cherished, but I just get the sense that he was a really long-awaited joy for his parents.

Charles is an attractive and alert little cherub and his parents look very pleased.
Their first Christmas excitment is evident.

What an uncalled for comment.

:ermm: Why are you calling someone out who called the person that said that Charles was ugly out? What exactly is 'uncalled for'?

I had the impression that you would not support such a statement (that Charles is ugly) but now you are chastising the person that clearly distances him/herself (sorry amaryllus, I don't want to mistakenly identify you as the wrong gender) from such a statement - by stating that while s/he considers him/herself an ugly baby, the little prince is the opposite of being ugly. :flowers:

Yeah. Charles is most definitely not an ugly baby and I said as much. Color me confused! I am girl BTW :)

Wonderful family photo!
I hope someone will share a summary from the Point de Vue interview.

Some excerpts I translated from the interview ... I have excluded the sections about Christmas traditions and how it will be different this year, etc.

Madame, Monseigneur, one can imagine that the birth of Charles was an upheaval in your lives.
S: It was a big change, as it is for all parents of course, but it was very natural. In our story, there was a time for the two of us, and now a time for three. We have the impression that Charles has always been there. ...

Monseigneur, today’s fathers are much more involved in the upbringing of children than previous generations. Are you one of those new fathers?
G: The circumstances permit me to be very present, as overseas trips have been canceled or postponed until 2021. Even though I am away during the day, every evening I am here and I can enjoy Charles. And to invest myself, as a modern father, in all the tasks! I get up in the night and it is me who takes care of him in the morning before handing him over at 8 o'clock. I am incredibly lucky.

Who do you, or those you are close to, think Prince Charles looks like the most?
S: He is the portrait of my husband! He has the same expressions, it is so funny, especially the look. I see Guillaume in Charles's eyes. It is extraordinary. My husband has a special way of smiling with his eyes. And Charles already has the same!
G: It is true that Charles is going to be a little brown-haired boy with brown eyes. And it is also true that he has my eyes, which are also those of my sister and my mother. But it is funny because from my perspective, I see a lot of Stephanie’s expressions.

What kind of education do you dream of for the prince?
S: Like any parent, we want him to be happy, fulfilled. We dream of giving him the basics that will allow him to move forward in live in a calm way, to face difficulties, because sooner or later, we all meet them. In education, we seek both to provide a framework in which the child can flourish and, at the same time, to prepare him to face the world around him.

Can one have a “normal” childhood when one is called upon to reign one day?
G: We will do our best to give him a normal childhood. I believe that this is very important. I was fortunate to have a childhood preserved until a certain age, thanks to my parents, and I think we will so the same. So that Charles, precisely, is a child like the others, in a school, here in Luxembourg, with other children, and that he is not considered as someone different.
S: There is a time for everything and early childhood is certainly not the age when he must realize what awaits him in the future. It is the age of play, of discovery. And then, we have the chance to live in the countryside, it is the ideal setting for playing outside, building cabins. And, of course, to feel the love of his parents and his family. When he is old enough to understand, we will explain it to him.

Madame, you are a musician. Are you already making the prince aware of music?
S: I make him listen to classical music, especially with choruses. I realized that the voices soothe him a lot. I see him in the car, crying, tired and looking for sleep. Within seconds he falls asleep. I also play music in front of him. But I will be honest, the first time he didn't like it at all! I stopped playing the violin at the end of my pregnancy and started playing again only two months ago. The first time he heard the violin he screamed. (laughs)
G: He was wondering what that noise was! (laughs)
S: However, he had already heard recordings. But it is true that in the presence of the instrument, the sound, everything is completely different ... The second time I played, he listened to me and looked at me, surprised, without crying. I reassure you: now, he asks for more! Yesterday I was once again playing in his presence. He was unhappy when I stopped.

What kind of grandparents are the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess?
G: It is very touching. The Grand Duchess has a passion for Charles. Unfortunately, because of Covid-19, she sees him much less than she would like. But when it happens, it is always a celebration. And for Charles, too. Charles smiles, waves to her. And with my father, it is the same. My father has a strong attachment to Charles and, reciprocally, Charles for his grandfather. The only thing that worries us is that they spoil him too much ... Which is the beautiful role of any grandparent!

:previous: Thank you for the translation.

I find it a bit odd he calls Henri 'my father' but he refers to his mom by her title. You'd think you'd do one or the other for both. Since they are painting them as both doting grandparents, I'd have expected 'my mother'. I do smile at the thought of the royal couple being spoiling doting grandparents to him.

I love the part about him and his mother's violin playing. Can just picture it.

Every time you see them with Charles or they talk of them there is such joy.

It's sad that Stephanie's parents never got to see her become a mom.

The violin part is too adorable:ROFLMAO:

Why is he "away during the day"?

Tatiana Maria, it could be there is an office in his home, or elsewhere. He goes there to work on whatever he needs to, be it paper work, video conferences, meetings, etc. That is why he is away during the day. Even if his office is at home he separates the business from home life.

I had forgotten that Stephanie plays the violin. The idea of Charles demanding to be played to makes me laugh.

The idea of the baby smiling and waving at his grandparents makes my heart melt.

Interesting that they both think their baby son resembles Guillaume..i think Charles looks very much like Stephanie right now.

Wonderful for Stephanie that Gui is the one who gets up in the night to tend the baby!

I do hope they have at least one more child. They sound like ideal parents...loving, completely devoted, sensitive and cultured.

Very lucky baby!

I have nothing useful to add, just that I'm so happy for them, both parents look like a heavy weight is off their shoulders and both are so in love with the adorable baby, it makes my heart melt.

Earlier in the interview he referred to her as 'his mother'.

From my perspective his mother living in Biarritz instead of in Luxembourg is much more of a hinderance in spending time with Charles than Covid-19; but of course Covid is a more convenient excuse. He doesn't say anything like that about his father who most likely sees his grandson more regularly because he spends much more time in Luxembourg.

And from the interview I gather that Guillaume considers himself a very modern father, yes the set up is still rather traditional with Stephanie primarily taking care of their son and Guillaume joining in after his day-job.

It should be clear that I misread the post and thought amaryllus was agreeing with the original poster!

Apologies to amaryllus.

Um...re-read what was written. You obviously read it wrong. She's saying the child is far from being ugly. Which means she thinks the child is cute.

That should be clear. No need to be snarky when pointing out.

I think all the current Royal children are nice looking to really beautiful and that goes for both boys and girls. It’s what’s inside that counts though. If grow each and everyone one grows ups to be kind, moral and responsible it does not matter if they look like Quasimodo.
