I think it is a very dated hat, that is all. Sophie Wessex wore a lot of hats like that in the 2005-2012 era.

Her dress is boring and the hat is too 'circus performer' for me. With her looks and stature she could be stunning but not today.

Normally Lady Gabriella is very elegant but this is not a good outfit or hat choice today.
