Nice picture, handsome young man! I think all of Joachim's children are so natural and handsome looking.
 
With the Øresund Bridge between DK and Sweden as backdrop.

Round birthdays is a big deal here in DK.

The most important birthdays are:
18. - Legally an adult.
30. - If you are unmarried by 30, you get pepper as a part of your presents. In DK you are called (on your B-day at least) a pebermø = pepper-maiden or pebersvend = pepper-carl (in the very old meaning of carl. Alternatively pepper-Jack, but without the naval-connotations.)
50. - A very big day!
75 is also sometimes celebrated as a kind of round B-day.
100. Where you also get a congratulation from the Monarch.

Good to hear that, both Joachim's sons get on with their life and are studying something useful.
 
Prince Nikolai has turned 23 today, August 28.

The Palace has shared some lovely photos, writing "The Prince celebrates the day with the family and the birthday photos are taken by Her Royal Highness Princess Marie and Her Royal Highness Princess Athena":

The first word going through my head was: Scissors. :D

Apart from that. He's grown up, so has his siblings. Nice to see their good relationship.

That explains the low quality of the pictures. I like the second one (as a family picture) but am not impressed by the others.
 
Nikolai is one of the most handsome young princes in Europe.;)

And yes, I love how close and bonded to one another all of Joachim's children are.

"TV 2 broadcasts a special edition of the program 'Min egen kurs', where Mikkel Beha Erichsen's son Emil Midé Erichsen is together with a well-known Dane who, like himself, was either born into or has chosen to follow in his parents' footsteps.

Well, he won't be a prince for much longer, so.

I guess this is it.
 
That program was tapped prior to his title being taken away by his grandmother the queen. So his thoughts are based within the context that things would remain as they had always been. Context is important. I know some are gleefully enjoying this for well what seem like projection and agenda, but I, for one, feel bad for him and his siblings. Looking forward to hearing/reading a summary of what he says.
 
The fact that it was obviously done prior to his grandmother's actions (it's pretty hard to imagine Nik doing this afterwards) just makes it sadder.

Maybe someone will get him for a follow-up program at some point.
 
Not sure why Nickolai felt the need to even participate in this tv program. It seems to me abit odd. His grandmother may be the Queen but he is far down the line in terms of being a 'Royal'. He obviously considers himself very 'Royal'. I now get Prince Joachim's coment about the titles being part of their identity.
 
Through Countess Alexandra's press advisor Helle von Wildenrath Løvgreen, Prince Nikolai tells BILLED-BLADET what it was like to be in the program that will be broadcast on 19 December.

- It was a unique opportunity that I didn't want to miss, and I don't think many people would say no to a sailing trip with Emil and Havana. I am not used to sailing and diving, so it was a challenging trip, which also included good and deep talks. Emil was good to talk to and to create a relaxed atmosphere.

I read that this was filmed in May, which was when the Queen introduced the title removal plan.

What does Countess Alexandra do to have a press advisor?
 
Without knowing too much about the program, it's not unexpected.

At least at the time Nikolai was a public figure - and also a celebrity - who enjoyed a good deal of public interest. So it's basically just another weekly-magazine-article just on TV.
Like so many others the DRF members have done over the years - and at some point M&F's children will take part in something similar as well.

I doubt there will be anything remotely earth shattering in this program.

Nikolai can stay a celebrity without a princely title, like many other junior royals in the world (Victoria Federica de Marichalar y de Borbón, Countess Eloise van Oranje-Nassau van Amsberg, the Casiraghi siblings, Zara Tindall, etc.)

I'll refrain from making assumptions about the program's content and whether it involves "projection and agenda" before it actually airs, but if the article's summary is reflective of the program then I am curious to see which aspects of the prince's "role" are described as "following in his father's footsteps". Although membership of the Royal House does grant him an official role to some extent, it seemed to me that by the time he reached his majority it was reasonably clear that his role was already set to be much more private than the role his father plays in the Royal House. (I remember comments on him receiving no Order of the Elephant, no flag day, and no appearance in the New Year's gala receptions.)

It is perhaps a little naive to think he can separate the "Danish Nikolai" from his international brand as he calls it - or his business image as he ought to label it.

Attending Copenhagen Business School he is learning in detail how use his image to brand his product - namely himself...
So I do find it difficult to see how he can split that up. Especially given the position and title (for a couple of weeks more though) he undeniably has.

It is even more naive to expect that the public will distinguish between the "Danish Nikolai" and "Nikolai the brand."

In the eyes of the public he will be Nikolai, the guy who was stripped of his title as prince.
And that in itself is actually a good story that can set him apart.
