Iceflower, thank you for sharing these photos with us. Good Luck to Charlene!

I had no clue that Peter Sagan was involved as well. That's quite fun: training pedal boats (in Dutch: water biking) with a road bike champion.

Peter Sagan is an ambassador of the princess Charlene foundation
On the instagrm of the foundation , it is said that he came to support the challenge of the crossing Calvi and Monaco Water bike challenge and he trained with the princess Charlene
Peter Sagan will take part to the 'tour de France ' which will start end of august 2020

“The Crossing” water bike challenge is fast approaching. I am sure P Charlene is already feeling those pre-event butterflies and excitement.

Do we know who exactly will make up the two teams? Will the race be broadcast in any way or updates given somewhere so that the public can follow their progress? Will P Albert be involved in any way?

Since there’s not much excitement left in the USTennis Open...we might as well follow this very challenging event and support the Princess and a worthy cause.

Thanks melina p, I will take a look there. Looking forward to this very challenging race. I’m sure the weather will also be a factor. Good luck to all involved!

Oh thanks. I found the names of the athletes on the site, also the late withdrawal of Yannick Agnel. But I have never heard of Brandon Green, on the Princess’s team.

P Charlene is the only lady taking part. That is brave of her to take on the guys. But I am convinced the must be very fit and conditioned, given all the training she’s done over the summer.

Let’s hope for good weather over the weekend and many pictures to capture the event.

Good luck to all the participants. Every one of them must be very, very fit to undertake such an arduous crossing.

Thanks for posting, melina p. Happy to see a link there so as to follow the race.

The distance they have to cover is 180 km, which means every team member should cover 45km. This is more than a standard race marathon. Quite the challenge.

It seems well organized, though, safety measures in place and medical assistance on hand. Bet those participating and otherwise involved are getting excited.

The time has come. The whole family there to support the Princess. Thanks, melina p, for posting the video of the start. Weather looks fine. Hope they have a wonderful crossing and those legs stay strong.

Thanks Melina for sharing these lovely pictures. Hope that everything goes well.

I see Connor McGregor couldn't compete today as he has been arrested in Corsica for sexual assault. Did someone else step in for him? Although who could step in when it requires weeks of training?

Lovely family day out and it looks like a really good turnout from the spectators in Calvi. Love Gabriella's dress and hat.

As for the Conor McGregor news - how surprising. Not!

Hope they have managed to replace him and it hasn't impacted the fundraising.

Thanks all for the lovely pictures. The kids must be so proud of their mom.

I agree, it must be difficult to find a late replacement for such an event that indeed requires months of training. To let your team down like this. It seems Gareth’s team is currently in the lead, although they have two late replacements in their team.

Princess Gabriella continues to resemble Princess Grace and Prince Jaques Princess Charlene's brother Gareth IMO. I thought Prince Albert looked very proud of his wife when he hugged her before the race began but Prince Jaques looked rather cross with his Mum for leaving him behind??

I just saw that Conor McGregor has been replaced by a Guido Belinskis - I suppose they must have had back up people (who also trained) in place just anyone had to drop out at the last moment.

Seems like it's going well so far.

They are all sports persons who know that an injury is always, hnfortunately, something that could happen, so i wouldn't be surprised if each team had at least one but more likely two spares training for the race (just like a soccer team doesn't just have 11 people)
:flowers:

Congratulations
Nice video where we are seeing the prince Albert and the kids wellcoming Charlene

For Mc Gregor, here is the article published in the Monaco Matin

Conor Mac Gregor relaché sans poursuite - marriane eklablog.fr

The article announced that Conor Mc Gregor has been released without prosecution, classified without further actions, his lawer said that the complaint was abusive

I just hope the poor judgement surround the involvement of Conor McGregor doesn't overshadow the grueling work that has been put in.

Well done to Princess Charlene and everyone involved in this event. Hope they have raised lots of funds.

A very tired P Charlene arriving in Monaco. I’m sure her legs must be jelly today after 45km on that water bike. Incredible achievement by all. Well done to the Foundation, good to see so much support at the start and finish of the race.

A big welcome hug from P Albert and the twins.

Congratulations to our beloved Princess and all her team! I imagine that after a hot bath she will sleep for hours and most probably dream of water bikes and the sea!!!!!

Well done to her and the others on the teams! Great action for the P.Charlene foundation!
