Prince Albert II of Monaco speaks at a news conference regarding
climate change and it's impact on the Arctic at the United Nations
Headquarters in New York September 22, 2009.

The following pics include some more good examples, Glistening Seas :)

With so many people who sound alarm bells about the environment at the same time making hefty profits through fears of climate change it is always refreshing to see Prince Albert speak about the subject since he has actually gone himself to the polar regions, studied the situation up close and has been generous in putting his money where his mouth is when speaking on the subject of global climate change. Kudos to him!
:monacostandard: :monacoflag:

Does anybody know about what he was speaking?

Glistening Seas

:hellokitty: PICS turned out su-perb all of them were wonderful although the fav was the pic 5 hee l-o-v-e the expression on the face and gestures. Pa was obviously very involved in getting to the point, it seems. Against the colors in the back he looked whuan-der-ful!! :champagne:

More coverage of PA at the UN on Monaco Matin:
Monaco.maville.com Albert II Ã* l'ONU : « Tirer les leçons de cette sombre année »

Main themes:

Monaco will give 0.7% of its GDP to development.

Everyone needs to learn lessons from "cette sombre année", and the monetary and financial systems must be reformed.

There is the opportunity for a "green economy" which associates job creation and dissemination of new technologies, and allows a sustainable recovery.

Monaco will continue to adopt best practice in protection, international assistance, strengthening of capacity to save human lives, responding to urgent humanitarian situations, especially regarding women and children.

While PA was getting ready to address the UN on Wednesday, the Monegasque delegation learnt that Monaco was no longer officially a tax haven.

The OECD website confirmed that Monaco had left the "Grey List" in favour of the "White List". Just in time for the Pittsburgh Summit.

Prince Albert is back in Monaco again, the annual Yacht Show
was opened today and here are the first pics, but hopefully
we'll get some better ones soon:

Prince Albert of Monaco inaugurates the 19th Monaco Yacht Show,
September 24, 2009.
The Monaco Yacht Show brings together professionals from the
international luxury yachting sector; ship-builders and designers,
equipment suppliers, brokers and service providers. The MYS is
renowned throughout the sector for being the show that must
not be missed in the luxury yachting sector because it is the only
yacht show exclusively devoted to Superyachts of at least 25
meters in length.

Nice to see him back.
He looks so powerful walking onto that yacht with the meg-yachts behind him. :)

I think he would be pleased hearing your compliment, lumutqueen :)

Here are the better pics I was hoping for, can anybody identify if
Albert followed the instructions in pic 4, I wasn't sure when looking
at the other pics :D ;)

Something about Albert from google.com:

He will be in Kenya on Nov. 14th...

PA about Monaco being "white", rather than grey:
(translated from French)
"I learnt about it only 15 minutes before speaking to the UN. It was a joy for me to be able to tell the audience, in front of the world's leaders assembled there. I've had to change my speech at the last minute. We wanted to get off the grey list before the end of the year, that was an important objective for the Principality, we got off it even faster, before the G20.....
....We'll continue to negotiate treaties with other countries. Monaco will maintain its place in keeping up this new moral framework of good governance in the world of finance.....

PA's right hand man Franck Biancheri added that, apart from the twelve accords, he is negotiating with Germany, Australia, India and the Netherlands.
Sadly, he already has his detractors who try to declare the accords as "worthless"....

Albert again in Monaco? That was fast...:ROFLMAO: He travels with a speed-light.
..

He must have left right after his address at the U.N. because, as I recall it, his address came on at 3 PM New York time which means 9PM or 10PM Monaco time.

Glistening Seas

:hellokitty: PA does seem to manage to travel at the speed of light!! All those time zones hopefully won't leave him too groggy:sleeping:

Prince Albert II of Monaco visited Lucciana on the French
island Corsica today, September 26, 2009. He laid the
foundation stone for a new museum that will be named
"Prince Rainier III de Monaco".

Alright, why in Corsica and not in Monaco?Whose initiative was it?
Does anyone know?

Monaco already has a strong link with Corsica because of their mutual Patron Saint Devote. PA has visited the island on several occasions.

Prince Rainier had visited the island in 2003 and they decided to
name the museum after him in order to honor him, it won't be a
museum about him or Monaco, it's planned as an archaeological
museum with excavations and training opportunities for students.

The Francophone Games are being held in an Arab country
for their first time since their inception in 1989 and the coming
10 days will see more than 3000 participants from 68 countries
compete in a variety of cultural and sporting events.

This is in regard to Prince Alberts address about climate change. I'm wondering about the impact of rising sea levels on Monaco. Does anyone know of the projected damage it could do to the principality?

Well, with the general threat of rising sea levels, Monaco could of
course be affected as well as it sits on the shores of the Mediterranean,
especially as in the past Monaco also increased it's size by reclaiming
land from the sea. But I don't have any exact information..

The awareness of climate change, environmental degradation and
energy waste have also been Prince Albert's themes at the
"Challenge Future"-Congress in Bochum, Germany on September 25.

On pic 3 you can see him with Gabriele Inaara Begum Aga Khan.

That's true, especially here in Germany, you can see them quite
often at charity events.

Today Prince Albert made an official visit to Lebenon's President:

And here are some official pics that were made on September 18,
prior to an interview for the newspaper Nice Matin about his
visit and connection to the island Corsica he visited last weekend.
