I've just read the online version of "Le Figaro", and there's an article about Albert's likes and dislikes regarding TV. Unfortunately, the article is not linked like all the others. Perhaps someone will realise the mistake...

The article was shared with TVmag.com, but I did not find it in their search function.

As Guest of honour Prince Albert attended the inauguration of
the center of the International Union for Conservation of Nature
(IUCN), Gland, Switzerland, June 4, 2010. Albert stressed the
value of this exemplary sustainable building.

I've also found the mentioned article with the interview Albert has
given. He has given it on the occasion of the 50th Television Festival
of Monte-Carlo from June 6-10.

Asked about his time spent watching television, Albert said that he
mainly watches news only but also likes "Dr. House from time to time.
It is a very interesting character. Sometimes CSI and the series 24.
This is a great way to relax!"
Asked what television moments he'll never forget, he answered "the
night when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. I was 11 years, the
whole family watched it together. Unforgettable! There was also the
assassination of Robert Kennedy, the fall of the Berlin Wall and Sept.
11, 2001".
Albert rarely uses the internet and asked when his own wedding would
be shown on television ( not a very subtle question ) he
asked back "You mean digital or analog?" not really answering it.

As to the Soccer World Cup he said "I think this will be a great World
Cup. It should be played between Brazil, Spain, Argentina, England and
France, but beware of a possible African surprise!".

It seems a cool event. Is it organized fist time? Today is June 1st, International Kid's Day. So, I wonder if it is event for children. I see some kids in pictures, so maybe that's it.
Albert seems really interested

This does look like an interesting event--can adults go? It looks fun, cute name for it also, I like it!

There's no shortage of them, usually caused by unsuitable backdrops.

There was a wonderful one of PA, some years ago, when he looked like a saint, surrounded by stars. Luckily, it was just the Euopean Union logo....

PA may be many things, but a saint he ain't !!

Today, June 10, Prince Albert received El Mostapha Sahel, Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of His Majesty the King of Morocco (1)
and Viraphand Vacharathit, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of the kingdom of Thailand. They presented their credentials and afterwards
attended private audiences with Prince Albert.

Prince Albert has been in Kenya and met with President Mwai Kibaki on Tuesday, June 15.

President Kibaki thanked Monaco for supporting the Green Africa Foundation
in Kitui and the Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation in Kapenguria which have
helped in environmental conservation and promoted peace initiatives in the country.

It may be PA's engagement, but it's business as usual in Monaco:

Yet another signing of a fiscal accord, this time between Norway and Monaco, being signed today in Paris. Many more remain to be signed before the OECD will give "carte blanche" to Monaco on the monetary front.

On the same theme, there's a seminar tonight at the Centre Rainier III about the fight against corruption in all its forms.

The National Council and the Mayor's Office will send official congratulatory messages to PA, and one expects there will be the local and international press corps in attendance.

Monaco is getting everything in order . They have run out of land and are getting ready to go big time into international banking. The second smallest country in the world may end up owning it. Haha.

The international banking crisis isn't over by a long shot.

I can't give a specific example. Maybe some of the articles on the land reclamation and tax haven status. Basicly what they said was that the on/off/on building of an island on their western border is the last piece of land reclamation that they can do. Their economy needs to grow at 3% per year to maintain their current standard of living. This last piece of land reclamation will take many years to build the island and many to construct the buildings on it. I think it will be at least 20 acres. They have been slowly going into banking for many years. I think they currently have 30 or so banks, many foreign owned, for a population of 32,000 people. This is also a many year project. Unlike most governments, Monaco thinks very long term. I think this is why they have been so eager to sign banking agreements with other countries to get off the tax haven list. I don't know the specifics of their plan. I don't know if they are just planning to increase banking volume within Monaco or have banks outside of Monaco as well. I also recently saw a statement from PA that they are opening several consulates in England and are trying to get English people to move to Monaco.( I don't know where they are going to live.) I assumed, maybe wrongly, that this might have something to do with their banking expansion plan since London is a major banking center of the world.Again, I think this is a decades long project.

Their "eagerness" to sign fiscal agreements was due to the fact that they needed to get off the OECD's blacklist, otherwise no other country would have been able to do business with Monaco.

The land reclamation project is not on ice, but will happen as soon as Monaco judges it to be right.

Yesterday, June 28, Prince Albert also visited the Institut Pasteur in Paris
and said that he hoped that partnerships will be established between the
Principality and the institute. Albert visited research laboratories, including
that of Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, co-discoverer of the AIDS virus. The
Pasteur Institute has decided to create a new research center that will
emerge in 2012. This project aims in particular to provide answers to the
risk of spread of viral or bacterial diseases, onset of drug resistance and
the emergence of new diseases.

At the Institut Pasteur, PA said that Public Health has become one of the Principality's priorities to act in matters of international aid.

He's clearly serious about all the objectives he has set himself and his country, and I suspect that CW would want to help him in these.

Coming from Zimbabwe and South Africa, she must have a particular view of the differing lives of people in Europe and those in Africa.

There are, or have been, and will be, THREE EVENTS, very close together!

1) The Swedish Wedding.
2) The Monaco Engagement
3) The Fifth Anniversary of Rainer's Death, and of PA's accession to the Throne (July 12th)

I can't believe all these countries are setting up embassies in Monaco. What a waste of taxpayer money. The US better not have one there. I think we go thru the consulate in Marseille. Good business for Monaco but wasteful for the other countries. Maybe they are just consulates which could just be someone from that country living there.

Indeed the U.S. Consul General in Marseille is formally accredited to
Monaco.


Prince Albert attended an exiting event today, June 30, he made a dive
to 200m off Monaco on the last submarine of the Comex society, the
remora 2000 which is able to take two men to 610 meters under water
for 10 hours.

In most if not all of these cases it is the Ambassador to France who is also accredited to Monaco. Frequently these same countries have a Consul General, Consul or Honorary Consul resident in Monaco or in nearby Nice or Marseilles.
