Thanks, Princess Larisa.
I was indeed under the impression that both would go.
But do those of you who have experiences with a procedure similar to the one Frederik has gone through, believe it's realistic to expect Frederik to go to Australia?
In that case Mary might actually go instead of Frederik, right? Albeit probably for a shorter stay IMO.

Since the source of the story was an Australian tabloid, I agree that the story about Mary and Fred going to the Invictus story was never credible but before the story came out my assumption was that a Danish royal may actually attend the Invictus Games but that it would be Fred going by himself. When I saw the headline but had not yet read the story, my reaction was, "Mary's going to the Sydney Invictus Games??!!"

We have a BB video of Mary being asked Monday how her husband was: https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...meldt-frederik
She replied: "He is well, considering the circumstances. Thank You for asking."
(Using formal You, and not informal you, as it was mentioned in a previous article. She was BTW naturally addressed with formal You. That's obviously BB policy for their reporters.)
Apart from that she does look relieved, when she is replying.

Do you think that Frederik and Mary will continue to be adressed with You in more informal situations like this one, once he ascends the throne as a form of modernisation? His mother famously called out a reporter for adressing her in this way a few years ago.

 I certainly hope so!
What's the point with royals, if you don't show the proper respect and use at least to some degree the proper etiquette and form of address?
And yes, I recall QMII's remark towards a journalist. And I had no pity for him.
If he can't figure out how to use one simple word when addressing the head of state, perhaps he should seek another job.
Imagine a DK journalist, not once, but several times addressing say the German chancellor with "Du" instead of "Sie". I think that journalist will be called in for an unpleasant talk with the editor afterwards.
Polite and correct address is not rocket science.
Okay, M&F don't seem to mind or notice when someone (usually someone in the crowd) address them with informal you. That is IMO perhaps a wise policy PR wise - at present. Unfortunately that opens a door wide open for it to be acceptable to address them informally once they become king and queen. And that I think is inappropriate. It somehow devaluates their position.
IMO you are not informal with the head of state, let alone their equal.

I believe that those in the crowd are addressing them as if they belong to them which is not a bad thing at all. There may very well be a personal feeling that one on one situation they would be very proper.
However, when Fred ascends the throne it is up to he and Mary to hold the press in check much as Queen Margrethe has. But when F&M are the king and queen, they will belong to a whole new generation of people than those who revere QM. They are going to have to prove they are worthy but I think there will still be a slight "loosening of the stays" so to speak. We get a glimpse of the way they respect royalty themselves when we see them bow and curtsey to people who are very close friends such as WA and Maxima.
They do not mistake the traditions of royalty as pretentious but hold fast to them because if they treat the trappings of royalty as irrelevant, how long will it be before people think that royalty itself is irrelevant.

 I see I wasn't clear.
I'm having a go at people, who in an official capacity - journalists, representatives and so on - deal with the DRF, and in this case address M&F in an informal way. In some cases very deliberately.
M&F have so far chosen to go with the flow and in that way they have avoided being bashed on the head like Joachim and QMII, who at times have insisted on using formal address.
However, at some point M&F will be majesties and that's where informal address is even more inappropriate IMO.
That onlookers address M&F informally is IMO excusable and even endearing. That is, as you point out, more a sign of affection than an attempt of being familiar or a feeling of insisting on equality - let alone wanting to be disrespectful.
Interestingly, I'm increasingly experiencing young people (>30) here in DK address me with formal You as I get older - and apparently look older(!)
It happens several times a year now! Having grown up in a time where everyone had to be on informal you with everyone else, and where our younger teachers insisted we called them by their first name (we never addressed our older teachers (40+) by anything but their last name) it amuses me. - But it also delights me that young people use it, because that one word, (De = You instead of du = you) is such a simple way of being polite and showing respect to a stranger. - It doesn't cost anything. It doesn't even diminish you or detract anything from you - on the contrary perhaps.

A quote from Mary about Frederik's condition.
Said while she was in Finland:
"He is really well. It's progressing really well. You can only be very, very happy for that. He is in good shape and he has come back on his feet again well after such a minor procedure which he had to go through."

"after such a minor procedure" ?
Is it considered a minor procedure if his events are cancelled for two weeks?

"Et mindre indgreb" = "a minor procedure"
Well, I won't comment. My knowledge of prolapses and what they do about it nowadays is too limited.
