 Indeed.
This is something both Frederik and the current government is very passionate about and has lobbied quite a lot for.
Two days in DK, with all the media coverage that entails, is considered very good PR (and fairly cheap as well) for DK.
- On a personal level I'm not that convinced that the costs are worth the effort.

The Tour de France has been so big here in Australia for so long Muhler and polyesco.
(Often now just called "Le Tour".)
We get live coverage of all stages - our night time of course, plus repeats and highlights packages.
Even Bjarne Riis - former Danish winner in the 90s is a well known person here.
A lot of Australians have done the cycling trips that take you over the course. (Young and fit Australians, mostly young men.)
Not an unusual thing now, even some people I know have done that - even those mountain stages.
And others have travelled along with the actual race as spectators - stage to stage - either independantly, or with the several commercial operations that look after you and get you about.
A French chef who has lived in Australia for many years has a yearly food show called "Le Taste le Tour" in which he goes to the region of each stage and covers the markets, farms, vineyards, restaurants, their specialitly produce etc.
Some people say they only watch it to have a little holiday in France seeing all the wonderful scenery that is broadcast.
If Denmark is able to host the opening stage, it will give the country an enormous amount of exposure for the tourist industry.

Tour de France (or as it all also known here in DK: Tour de Epo) is also a huge event! And has been so for basically most of my life.
Not least because of a legendary commentator, Leth. - The sun rise in the east, we have presents and the Disney Show on Christmas Eve, See "Same procedure as every year, James" on New Years Eve and Leth comments on Tour de France. Period!
Giro de Italia is also a big event, but not up there with Tour de France.
- And mostly the media go way over the top, especially if a Dane happens to anywhere in the lead.
No wonder since half the press corps use the opportunity to frolic... I mean, report from France.

Yesterday, Frederik held the public audiences
"HRH The Crown Prince held public hearing at the Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen on November 27, 2017. By audience it is possible to thank for an order or medal and for royal appointment or parting."
Here is a gallery of some who attended yesterday

Isn't it nice, that the court has remembered to change that to Frederik...
For the past 24 hours, that entry has said it was the Queen who held the audience.

A beautiful evening in Odense tonight
Frederik stood and talked to the crowd from the balcony.
It was a nice idea.
