I saw the video. It includes wonderful file footage of Maria Teresa's childhood, engagement and wedding. She was a genuinely beautiful young woman. Not hard to see why Henri fell in love with her. By the way, I, also, love the pictures of her parents and siblings.

:previous:

She is great at these kinds of interviews and seems charming and sympathetic. Apparently several of her children speak Spanish and the GDss says they all have rythem and the sing a lot, now also with the grand children.

As for the relationship with her mother-in-law: the Grand Duchess here confirms the story as I have always known it, and which was twisted later on when it was said that JC was against the marriage from the start. Grand Duchess Marie Therese now says that they started out friendly and afterwards things became more complicated. When the reporters asks 'what changed', MT replies something that we did hear before: namely that the only explanation she can think of is that her mother-in-law had a very different education, she was a princess of Belgium, had a strict upbringing etc while MT as a latina was warmer and received that back from the public.

Near the end she talks about her connection to and her visit to Cuba, while vacation images of the family in Cuba are shown. And her book is also shown of course.

I have an overdose of all these interviews the Grand Duchess gives abroad!
All was not that easy with her Children:
The sorrow of the Hed Grand Dukes not to have a Child .At the Funerals of the Grand Duchess beloved Father Maria Teresa preferred to be honored in Paris.

And the Louis and Tessy Affair and their Divorce. Tessy never spoke about her because she needs the money alowed by the Grand Dukes .

As for the late Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte , the Press was wondering why they were invited and were all shocked because it was a private family Affair !

A Grand Duchess has to be present at the National Feast on June 23th and she was not etc....

Has the Grand Duchess returned to Luxembourg more permanently? Lately, we've seen more of her.

Let's hope that that is the case. Let's see if the events keep up after the book-tour is over.

Apart from her daughter Alexandra, two other familiar faces went to the book signing: Prince Michel d'Orleans, count of Évreux and his 2nd wife and a prince Lobkowicz, cousin of the Duke of Parma.

The interview of TV5 has been posted on youtube:

This time the interview focussed more on her activities for the 'Speak up rise up' charity', in that sense more comparable to 'normal' royal interviews. In addition she did give some glimpses of her private life. She said that one of her pre-occupations in raising 5 children was to prevent jealousies from popping up, as only one was the heir and the others were not. She added that she has seen that often in royal families this could be the case .... :whistling:.

She told Guillaume that his life would contain lots of sacrifices, not in the least of his liberty, but also lots of privileges. She told her other children that they would not have the same privileges but also not the same sacrifices, that they had more liberties but that they all needed each other. WHat makes her very happy is that when she asks Guillaume if he is happy in his role, he says that he is very happy. If she asks the others if they would like to be in the place of Guillaume they reply that never in their life they would like to be. The Hereditary Grand Duke has shown the book to Prince Charles and he immidiately cried that it was 'apapa' and 'amama' on the cover.

As I said before -and what my impression is again from this show- is that the Grand Duchess is very good at these kind of shows and -not forgetting all that happened- is a very charming lady.
