Ah, another state visit in the absence of princess Máxima... so the jewelry lovers among us will have to be content with some diamonds burried in the hairstyles of the Queen and Princess Margriet tonight.
Nice to see that the state banquet will actually be in the royal palace in Amsterdam and not at Noordeinde.

Right, at the last State Visit Magriet went tiara-less. I hope that they are not setting this up as their new protocol . I miss Maxima as well.

What a surprise: they finally figured out that the palace has a better background for pictures than the drawn curtains that they usually stand in front of.

Pieter van Vollenhoven has pneumonia and was unable to attend.

The palace was closed for a renovation of the interior for quite a few years. And for the Italian state visit the palace was used for a painting exhibition. I believe that after they re-opened only the Turkish state banquet was held there.

Yes that was the policy in Noordeinde, but they also closed the curtains for president Gul of Turkey in Amsterdam:

Yes, nice to see princess Margriet with a tiara again, she didn't wear this one (emerald tiara with pearls) very often before. And she actually didn't place it somewhere hidden in her hair. So cheers to that!

Today, November 22, Queen Beatrix with President Ivan Gasparovic and Silvia Gasparovicova were visiting Eindhoven. They paid a visit to the technollogy region Brainport Eindhoven where producers, marketeers and designers work for the products of tomorrow.
