i'm very much looking forward to october to this wedding! it sounds like it will be a fantastic set of events.
i wonder when the luxembourg court will be releasing the guest list. will it be on the same day (or around) the wedding day or (hopefully) a bit beforehand?
i can't seem to recall how louis and tessy's wedding took place, but i guess this one, given the fact that its the hereditary grand duke marrying, will have a slightly more formal touch to it. if i remember well, louis and tessy didn't have an evening gala, although i seem to remember a civil and religious ceremony.
i'm sure maria teresa, alexandra, tessy and of course stephanie will chose very appropriate sartorial choices for the day. i'm sure the bride's dress will be spectacular.

The last luxemburgian Wedding who can be compared to this was the Wedding of Prince Guillaume and Sibilla Weiller in 1994. But i took not place in Luxembourg the religious Wedding was in Versailles with the civil Wedding already have been held some days before.
Louis and Tessy had a very simple Wedding because the Prince had renouncded his succession rights before and probably also because they already had a son.

Concerning Luxembourg: of course there is talk when one of the ladies gets it really wrong but in general more importance is placed on their work and how they interact with the public, something I find rather refreshing.
Being a royal is much more than being a human hallstand. And I don't mean that as an offense towards the DoC or any of the other ladies, I believe it is the media that places so much attention of what everyone wears, rather than the work they are doing.
I would love to see her in an Elie Saab wedding gown so she might prefer to go with a Belgian designer. Good things is that Natan's bridal gowns, the Duchess of Brabant's and Princess Claire's come to mind, are actually rather beautiful. The latter one is actually one of my all time favourites.

You are so absolutely 100% correct. Think of the Royal princesses who get the most magazine and press coverage these days...they are not necessarily the ones who work the hardest, that's for sure.
It's one of the many reasons I loved following the late Diana Princess of Wales so much...she was glamorous, stylish AND a workhorse for Britain and the causes she believed in...she was one of a kind.

there is no way stephanie will choose dolce and gabanna for her wedding gown.
natan is belgian but is generally favoured by the luxembourg ladies while also being of the same nationality as stephanie, so i guess it would be quite a good estimate.
some fine fashion designers come from belgium, like raf simons (dior) or martin margiela. who knows, maybe she decides to choose an edgier designer for her gown.
on the other hand, the grand duchess' dress was by balmain, so maybe stephanie will just any other international designer that she likes for it.

Do Royal weddings in Luxembourg generally have child attendants, or adults?
(Personally I don't care for troops of children scurrying about, possibly because here in the US it's usual to have adult attendants.)

I think having children be the attendants is a wonderful tradition. Keeps them from being bored during the ceremony .

Makes for a great photo when they do goof off. All I can say is little William at Uncle Andrew wedding to name just one.

Oh, the pictures of kids goofing off at official events are priceless, but I'm sure for the parents they're pretty embarrassing. However, I do hope for some cute moments, if children will indeed be involved. Watching little Grace at the Cambridge wedding was seriously one of my favorite parts. She had some great facial expressions .

I do not like the hats which look like small platters falllng off the sides of the heads of some of these royal ladies. Duchess of Cambridge being one. Many others, of course.
This is "fashion" but it looks rakish. Skirts above the knees is also often seen on these ladies, which is also not my favorite look. I thought the hats at the Cambridge wedding were mostly awful. I remember earlier weddings which were nicer looking in the hat department, for instance, Princess Diana's wedding. Let's hope for some beauty and grace at the Luxembourg wedding.

They shouldn't be at the ceremony at all. Or at the reception.
I never like it when you're at a lovely reception and restless kids are running around the dance floor, bumping into people.
Most weddings I have attended recently make it a point to exclude children.
(I heard William's antics so dismayed the Queen that she insisted on a new governess for him, because she thought he was out of control).

Has something about the dress-code for the pre-wedding festivities been leaked? Their Belgium and Netherlands neighbours didn't have tiaras at their heir's pre-weddings.

As children can be anything from 0 to 18, so there is quite an age-span to choose from. I think it's nice for a wedding couple to chose their nieces/nephews and/or godchildren as attendants at the ceremony. If I recall correctly the young attendants at crown princess Victoria's wedding was seated at the side and wasn't shown that much in the footage from the wedding.
As for children running round at a reception, well, in those cases it's clear that the person/s arranging the reception haven't taken into consideration that children do have a shorter attention span and find formal events boring, it's not that difficult to have a special room where the children can go and play with a adult in charge, while their parents enjoy the wedding reception.

Strange - why is this thread so wide. When I click on it, it takes up the whole screen, with no side-bar. If I go into TRF onto another thread, all is normal. Anyone know what's happening there? Any idea?

Mine is like that too. Don't know why, but doesn't prohibit viewing.

I agree....I much prefer children as bridal attendants. With their enchanting little costumes they bring a sense of charm and innocence to the wedding that adult bridesmaids simply cannot match, imo.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree . I think that children need the exposure to all sorts of events in order to learn and observe the proper conduct. Excluding them from a wedding, which is a family event is rather harsh. Yes, they may run around, but that's what kids do, and since most of the weddings I've been to had a DJ at the reception, having the chance to dance and get some of that pent up energy out served pretty well.
I think that someone like Princess Elisabeth of Belgium or Amalia of the Netherlands would be great choices. Both girls appear to have great manner and are old enough to understand the importance of behaving well during a high-profile event. Some of the younger kids would add to the 'cuteness' factor though, so I do hope to see a good age range. Also, as we saw at the Cambridge wedding, the kids were very, very well-behaved during the ceremony and they were aged between 3 and 10 years.

I kind of agree that young children do not belong at the wedding reception. The best solution is what CP Victoria did...the children were sequestered and entertained in another dining room during the bridal dinner, then they were apparently sent to bed before the dancing began.

For me it depends on how old the children are. If they are old enough to understand why they need to behave then yes they should be at the ceremony. Not sure about the reception though

So then where are the adults supposed to dance? The dance floor is seldom so big that there's plenty of room for all; hence, bumping into people!
The thing is, so many brides don't want children there, yet the parents insist on bringing them anyway!
(They're the same ones who think their kids are so adorable that no one can resist them).
I know one bride who actually had to telephone parents to remind them that the reception was adults-only!
But I digress; will the Luxembourg attendants be children or adults? Does anyone know?
