A Visit to the Centre for Human Genetics On Thursday’s Agenda for Queen Mathilde

Today, Thursday June 23, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the Center for Human Genetics (CME) in Leuven, to mark the 50th anniversary of the center.

The research center works in collaboration with the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven and the Universitaire Ziekenhuizen of Leuven, the Academic Hospital. It specialises in the research of genetic diseases, cancer genetics and neurological disorders.

Upon her arrival the Queen had a meeting with doctors and researchers about their work. Then, along with members of the staff, the Queen made a visit through the laboratories that are currently working on the Parkinson’s disease and leukemia.

Before leaving the center, Queen Mathilde met some patients with rare genetic disorders and their families.
