She's also got a smaller tiara (made by the Belgian jeweller Wolfers), that can be worn as a necklace as well.

The jewels are lovely, but I'm even more impressed at her hairstyle... ;)

I know this sounds horribly morbid, and I almost feel bad for asking, but I've always wanted to know, what will happen to her wonderful jewels once she passes away? Will they revert to the crown, or divided up between Paola and Albert's children, or to certain other family members? I've always thought that she has the most wonderful of all of the Belgian jewels, and it would be a shame if they went elsewhere.

1. Belgian empire tiara
Interesting photo: then Fabiola was queen and Paola princess; now they're both queens, but Paola comes first, and wears this tiara!
2. Wedding gift tiara as a bandeau
Bejewelled Fabiola. Diamonds also look nice in grey hair... ;)

It would be lovely if Fabiola shared her jewels with the royal ladies of Belgium, her wedding gift tiara, the wolfers one, the diamond flowers, the base of her wedding gift tiara :innocent:

Now Hans, let her enjoy her tiara a bit longer :) She still goes to some gala events and it would look odd to not see a former queen in tiara when everyone else (female that is) has one on :)
Hopefully, many, many, many, many years from now, when she's passed on, she will leave it to the RF in her will.

The weddin tira have many formes or is just me??????????????? :(

hihi, not you but the tiara, the jewel can be worn with 3 types of stones: aquamarines, emerald & rubies.

In full coronet-form, a real crown.
A flower tiara
the diamond base only

versitile and beautiful. More tiaras should be like that (not necessarily the same design, or we'd all be bored looking at them after a while!).

1. Fabiola with the Wolfers tiara
2. Could she be wearing a part of her wedding gift tiara as a necklace here?
3. I can't see very well which tiara she's wearing here...The bandeau tiara of queen Elisabeth, the base of the tiara of the nine provinces?
4. A picture I had never seen before, Fabiola wearing the base of the tiara of the nine provinces;

I can't see very well which tiara she's wearing here...The bandeau tiara of queen Elisabeth, the base of the tiara of the nine provinces?
It is the base of the nine provinces, as far as I know Elisabeths bandeau tiara was never worn by Fabiola as it went to Paola.
I hope that the queen will leave all her jewels for Mathilde (apologies if anyone is offended by this, I sure wish the great Fabiola a happy & longer life!!! & I admire her very much - as I did her husband). If her collection is to be fragmanted as well (by going to Astrid, Claire, Luxembourg princesses or even spanish cousins from her own family) the belgian RF will have even less (3) tiaras in the future! As the Luxembourg & spanish cousins live out of the limelight and as it seems that only the children from Mathilde and Phillipe will be the core members of the RF in the future, they need a nice collection. Especially as the we have not seen that the jewels of the late princess of Rethy went back to the RF. I believe she sold those wonderfull items, which is a shame. I surely expected 1 good tiara/necklace to return.. but helas. A still think it was very inappropriate from Leopold to give his morganaut wife such important jewels & they were lost to the crown forever. Especially Lilian receiving jewels which belonged to the late Queen Astrid is unforgivable, those should have gone to her children!!!

I belive she wear part of the spanish tiara in this nekless.

Sparkling jewelry for a sparkling lady, but this lady is so beautiful and elegant that she outsparkles the jewelry.

This is going to be a horribly morbid question to ask, but I have always wondered this. Does anybody know what happens to all of her jewels once she passes on? Will it revert to the crown, or be divided up amongst her family?

That is for Fabiola alone to decide. She can do with them as she pleases, as they are not property of the crown but of Fabiola personally. One can only hope she especially the most substantial jewels will go to Mathilde. But the Queen seems to be on very good terms with Astrid and Marie-Astrid & marguerite of Luxembourg as well.. and to her spanish relatives as well. So it is totally up to her. I expect that the larger pieces will go to Mathilde (and hopefully they will be put in a family-foundation)
