Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg and Nicolas Bagory: 22 and 29 April 2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Maybe Charles as well? He wore same outfit as Liam.

Of course, he must have been the little boy that walked in next to Liam.

The bride looks stunning imho, no surprise. I especially love her light floating veil with what looks like Swiss print, and the fact that she chose a short train for that small church. I notice that her face was uncovered, the better to show off her gorgeous radiance. The dress isn't Elie Saab as I had hoped but I like it. It suits beautiful Alexandra.?

His Royal Cuteness Prince Charles waving at press and public from Gui's arms was to die for...that child has a VERY regal wave btw!

Were Felix's children bridal attendants? I thought I saw them bustling around the bride as she entered, but then I saw them with their parents as they entered?

Bormes les Mimosas in the South of France is an inspired venue for a springtime wedding. It's bursting with beautiful florals, the weather is mild and the Church of St. Trophyme is very ancient, historic and intimate.

I can't wait for more wedding details.;)

The children arrived before the bride, so entered the church with their parents. When it was time for Alexandra to walk into the church they were ushered outside to be able to walk in front of her.

And I agree Bormes les Mimosas is a great place. I went there for my first (and only true French-Mediterranean holiday over 15 years ago in May); just outside of the town is a nice camp ground :flowers:

I am planning to wear a dress that I bought there later today :D

I don’t know where to begin.

I’ve never been a fan of the Chaumet tiara. I am not a fan of the top front of the gown.

Maria Teresa: WTH? I’m just gobsmacked!!

I like the tiara and veil, I'm not really fond of the bodice.
But hey, if the princess loves it, wear it.
GD's clothing are something else. I don't mind the jumpsuit, but the green 'thing' is too much, too big.

Another forgettable wedding. I had no expectations for the bride's gown, but this is nothing special IMO. A boring combination of Victoria of Sweden and Maria Laura of Belgium's gowns. Her bodice looks like it's made out of drapes.

I really believe I should buy a time traveller.

Wow, the modified version took away all the uniqueness of that design.

Yes, they entered with their parents, it was hilarious to see the kids running outside when they were told the bride had arrived. Liam was a very responsible big cousin and held Charles' hand at all times. Amalia walked with the other little girl.

So sweet and funny to see the little Royal munchkins rushing to report for duty. :lol:Prince Liam never let go of his cousin Charles...I hope they are growing up to be good friends.;)

I wish Charles's socks were short like Liam's.

Princess Amalia is going to be one of the great Royal beauties of her generation. She is a near perfect mix of Claire/Felix. What a pretty child.

On closer inspection Alexandra's dress is more impressive from the back than in the front...the second pleat at the waistline is rather redundant. But her joy is so obvious. She hasn't stopped smiling and giggling since last Saturday...her jaw muscles must be aching now!?

Is it a custom for Catholic brides in Europe to venerate the Cross before entering church to be married? I noticed it at the wedding of Infanta Cristina of Spain, and I also saw Stephanie, Claire and now Alexandra do so.

Is it only Royal Catholic brides who do that?

The groom had some trouble driving away. It took a while to get it started and then it went backwards. Luckily a gendarme was at hand to give them a push in the right direction.

I love it that they were preceded out of St. Trophyme by bagpipes! I kept thinking (hoping) that they would kiss on the steps and the bride seemed to want to, but the groom appears very shy and reserved. We know little about him other than that he is a Breton born, Sorbonne educated Catholic intellectual, but he and Princess Alexandra seem very well suited to one another.

I was pleasantly surprised by how large and enthusiastic the crowds were and how close security allowed them to approach particularly on the narrow ancient streets. It was great to see HRH Grand Duke Henri actually leave his vehicle to greet them.

How happy the newlyweds look, and how they have grown on me this past week! I hope they are now headed for a sublime honeymoon somewhere in the tropics!?;)

Princess Claire was wearing Queen Astrid's emeralds (too bad they didn't stay in Belgium:whistling:)

That must be the groom's brother. Nice of him to escort MT, most of the time he was standing next to his mother who looked beautiful in her dress in comparison to that awful jumpsuit of MT.

I think it was one of her Cuban Maestre nephews? Nicolas's brother looks very much like him, down to the hair color. MT was escorted by a member of her maternal family. I am almost sure of it.

Sadly, I agree about the Grand Duchess's black/emerald green jumpsuit.. I just don't understand at all.:ermm:

I haven’t seen any photos of the GD’s brothers nor sister. Any relatives from Belgium attend?

Luxemburger Wort covered the wedding today from the beginning, unfortunately not many pics when everybody gathered in front of the church. I saw Uncle Guillaume and Uncle Jean, and lots of young people, probably cousins. The article says that they were all there, Margareta, Marie-Astrid, Guillaume and Jean and all of their children.

it also says that MT's escort is Arnaud Bagory, the brother of the groom.

It is normal for all Catholics to make a cross, that is why there are fonts with blessed water at the entrances of Catholic churches (the same water as in the baptismal font). Usually fingers are dipped into the water and the sign of the cross is made.

Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte wore this tiara for the first ?
Claire wears Queen Astrid's emerald earrings.
Grand Duchess MT wore the emerald luxembourg earrings.
I want to see Princesses Astrid and Margaretha jewels .

Whoah...I stand corrected. Thanks!;)

Right, I am Catholic and I do all of the above regularly. ;)

But at Catholics weddings here in the USA, I never see the bride kiss a Cross held aloft by a celebrant before entering. That's why I wondered if it's done mostly in Europe.

But I know we all bless ourselves with holy water.

The couple look so happy. Princess Alexandra is beautiful and radiant! She out shined everyone! Best of wishes to the Alexandria and Nicolas

I don’t like the bride’s dress however her happiness is absolutely beautiful to see. She is glowing and just seems truly happy which is the most important thing!

I think I saw Prince Joachim of the Belgians.
Archduchess Sophie of Habsboug and her husband WG, the old Prince of Jordan and his wife, the Prince de Ligne and his wife, Prince Guillaume but not his wife, the Countess Arco Zinneberg(short green dress) etc..

There were quite a few pregnant wedding guests, all looking to be in their 3rd trimester. Kathleen Habsbourg is enormous.

I also saw Prince Faisal of Jordan and a guy who looked like one of the French Orleans princes but I couldn't remember his name.

Given the fact that the wedding ceremony was late afternoon, I imagine that the GD family hosted a gala reception dinner at their Cabasson residence.?

ETA: Alexandra's bridal gown IS Elie Saab:ohmy:!

I might be alone, I liked her gown. So sick of the lace mummies. Maybe because it looks like Victoria's which was my favorite. But the extra detail made it just a bit different. Nice change from many royal wedding gowns.

And the veil is stunning. Surprised by the chaumet but lovely surprise.

The kids coming out when the bride arrived made me smile.
