I would expect that is because Prince Charles is now The Duke of Edinburgh and so has the responsibility for any memorials to his predecessor holding that title. That would be the standard protocol ... the person who inherited the title having the say on what memorials are in place and who should open them.

I just thought a single point of contact to arrange these things would be a good idea. Saves duplication of efforts.

And traditionally that is always the next holder of the title.

Will any of Prince Philip's relatives from Germany be attending any of the ceremonies?

If they do we probably won't be told, unless it is an official engagement with a full list of attendees listed. That only happens at some of the really big events however. Philip's relatives have attended a lot of events over the years with no official acknowledgement.

Posts about the memorial service / thanksgiving service on March 29th have been moved to a new thread, which you can find here.

How come Diana has her own subforum on this site, whereas Prince Philip, a member of the BRF for over 70 years, has a mere thread?

My guess would be so that posts about Diana, Princess of Wales were confined to one area only whereas in every other thread concerning the British Royal Family, The Duke of Edinburgh was (and is) very much archived in so many different threads related to the British Royal Family.

Even today, he is very much considered the "patriarch" of the entire family and will be considered as such for a very long time. Perhaps it's the same with Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Her life has been woven through many, many threads here and she just can't be confined to one subforum.

Diana also was a very controversial person so to confine her to one subforum made the moderator's work a bit easier? Just guessing. The entire Sussex subforum is like that today as another example.

Actually Philip has numerous threads.

Until he died the top subforum was Queen Elizabeth II AND The Duke of Edinburgh. It was renamed after his death but the many many threads about him are still there in the Queen Elizabeth II subforum.

All these (handsome) photos of Philip in one place.

Queen Elizabeth II attended Prince William's graduation

There is now a new combined thread to discuss Queen ELizabeth II and her husband the DUke of Edinburgh.

You can find the thread here.

This thread is now closed.
