Queen Anne-Marie started Greek lessons since day one of her engagement. She was becoming a reigning queen and belonged at this generation of royal brides when they married a foreign royal they would adopt his whole country, language culture everything. Queen Sofia also did the same.
Now is different. See Princess Charlene of Monaco. 10 years of marriage plus previous life in france ... still no French

In previous centuries also there were Kings or Queens who never managed to learn language of the country they were supposed to reign.

In this context I remember the last empress of russia being from germany/Great Britain and communicated all her life with Nikolaus in english or german.I think she and Anne- Marie aren ' t fluent in russish or greek the way their husbands are.
I think that when Niko and Tatjana started to date she was of course not able to speak greek so they continued to communicate in englisch until today and this might be a reason she doesn,' t bother to learn greek. It' s IMO very unlikely that Niko decided to speak greek quasi over night when they moved to Greece to teach Tatiana, I even could imagine that his greek is still not as fluent as his father' s.

We don't know if she is able to talk Greek in her everyday life. That she choose not to give Interview in Greek is because she might not be able to fully express herself.
By her curriculum she should be multilingual. Out of English she should talk spanish but i think also german or French or both as she spent many years in Switzerland.

I've always wondered why they never adopted any children, they could have given some unfortunate kids a great life.

Maybe they don't have parental instinct?

I have no knowledge about whether this particular couple have considered having/adopting children, but adoption, with the exception of adoption of patrilineal relatives, appears to still be looked down on in European royal and noble circles.

I've kind of thought that too.

We don't know if they couldn't have kids or just if they decided not to have. It is true that they both come from large families and we all think that they would want to have many kids.
But you never know what happens in people's mind and behind close doors.

Do you expect all couples with no biological children of their own to adopt or only the wealthy ones?

While adoption might be the right choice for some children and some receiving families (I personally know about many successful adoptions and a few that created some tensions), I am always a bit concerned about the high-profile adoptions that at times seem to be more about the adoptive parents' i age than about the welfare of those children (as a less high-profile life -preferably growing up with their own family members- would be far healthier).

Maybe they don't have parental instinct?

They may or may not but it is perfectly possible to have parental instinct and not decide to adopt when you for example find yourselves unable to conceive.

I know adoption is looked upon very favorably in certain parts of the world but in others it is approached much more critically. Mainly based on campaigns of those who were adopted and highlight all the problems that (may) result from it both for individual adoptees but especially the system as a whole.

Prince Nikolaos was present on 25 May at the presentation of Alexia Koulouris's new book entitled "Tatoi - Moments of History".
The journalist's book includes 410 rare color and black and white photos from the archive of her father Dimitris Koulouris, who was an accredited photojournalist of the Palace.

:previous:The title is very confusing, because the book has nothing to do with the Tatoi Palace. This has caught my attention. The book focuses mainly on the Reign of King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie and all the events that took place in this period. Dimitris Koulouris, Alexia's father, was an accredited journalist for the Royal House, and accompanied them on official visits, public events and made photographic reports to the Greek Royal Family.

The book focuses on the photographic archive of Dimitris Koulouris.
The photos are international official visits, visits around the country, public events....in the Royal Palace, today it is the residence of the President of the Republic, even in the residence of Queen Frederika and also in Tatoi (but does not focus on the private residence of the King). There are also some photos of King Paul and Queen Frederika, including reports made in exile in Rome to King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie.
