Why this year and not next year? It would seem to make much more sense to celebrate 50 years...

As is their standard practice for engagements in English-speaking countries (and many others), the Royal Court has translated the news articles about the Queen's United States visit into English.

As an aside: The Royal Court overall does outstanding work with their news articles about royal engagements, especially when compared to most of the other royal courts of Europe. Their articles are historically and socially educational, impart not only the technicalities of the engagements such as who and where but also their emotional tenor, formed connections and personal moments, and are accompanied by lovely photographs. Their recent articles about Their Majesties' county visits were first-rate.

This evening, November 26, Queen Sonja attended the premiere of The Nutcracker in Copenhagen. As in previous years Queen Margrethe has been involved in designing stage sets and costumes. Posts about Queen Sonja's attendance can be found here.
