The collars are heavy and uncomfortable… Neither of the 3 Scandinavian monarch’s are spring chicken anymore so i wouldn’t be surprised if sash, badge and star of the Royal Order of Seraphim will be used instead…

But we’ll see….

At the musical tribute was a premiere of a song by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus from Abba, "Buller och bång".
Högvakt och sångare hyllade Kungen på jubileumsdagen _ Kungahuset

Swedish children sing less and less and thus risk missing out on an important resource in life. As a gift to all of Sweden's children, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus have written the song Buller och bång. The song is dedicated to the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's activity Sjungande barn (Singing children), to draw attention to children's right to their voices through song. On September 15, children's choirs from Linköping and Västerås perform the song for the first time at a live singer tribute on the occasion of H.M. The King's 50 years on the throne. The song is then posted as free sheet music on the Swedish Choirs' Association's website, available for everyone to download.

No big surprises in tiaras.

The King gave a very good welcoming speech, where he among other things thanked beautifully his wife, the Queen and also his daughter, the Crown Princess.

Victoria gives a speech approx. 20.05.

The King's Jubilee speech
Kungen höll tal till Sveriges folk _ Kungahuset

"It is my hope that now, and in the coming years, I can continue to serve our Sweden. In both up and down. In good times, as well as in times of great challenge."

What a speech, Victoria! It was fantastic, very personal. Her love and respect towards her father came out in every word.

Frederik is wearing the mess uniform of an admiral.
Dannebrog is a very popular posting for her 100 % volunteer conscript crew, not least among female conscripts as you can tell.

I don't know if there are any videos of Frederik entering or leaving Dannebrog. But when in uniform he should return the salute of the honor guard and salute the flag at the stern.
But Frederik has never been a stickler for protocol and the navy is a bunch of brigands anyway. Leave it to the army to do things right. ?

In the end, the three Queens were the only ones that didn't disappoint when it came to the jewelry.

Princess Sophia is wearing new stones atop her tiara, something yellow/orange so maybe citrines.

It might not be the most beautiful tiara but I hope other royal families with younger daughters are taking note of how fun and versatile a tiara with interchangeable stones can be

They looked like topaz to me. I can be wrong.

I wonder if buying different sets of 9 gemstones time and time again doesn't end being more expensive (in the long run) than to buy a new tiara.

No surprises tiara wise

Queen Silvia : Braganza Parure

Queen Margrethe II : Pearl Poire Parure

Queen Sonja : Emerald Parure

Queen Anne-Marie : Khedive Tiara

Crown Princess Victoria : Baden Fringe Tiara

Princess Sofia : Thai Wedding Tiara with new stones

Princess Madeleine : Modern Fringe Tiara

Princess Christina : Connaught Diamond Tiara

Crown Princess Mary : Wedding Diamond Tiara

I had hoped more people would experiment more with their jewel boxes and wear more unusual (to them) pieces… But we’re living in the era where noone wants to wear more jewels than absolute neccessary

I love the details around such events, not least the uniforms and honor guards. It's delight to watch.

In the background of this picture you will see a Livdrabant = the most trusted bodyguards around the Swedish monarchs, beforehand consisting of officers.

He is a cuirassier from the Great Nordic War that ended in 1720.
He is wearing a breastplate, a cuirass.
His weapon is a single edged heavy sword called a pallask.
The tricorn hat began to come into fashion during the Great Nordic War and remained so in various forms for almost 100 years, so quite a fashion success!
The boots are made from very stiff leather and as such this unit has a peculiar stomping march, simply because the boots make it very difficult to walk normally.
The reason for these boots was to protect the troopers legs from breaking while riding in formation. Cuirassiers rode in very tight formations with the riders sitting with the knee locked behind the knee of the rider next to him. Cuirassiers were the heaviest cavalry and when attacking they were sweeping the battlefield like an armored formation riding down anything but the most well-disciplined infantry square.
Consisting of big men riding big horses, it was necessary with heavy boots to prevent the trooper's legs from getting severely injured.
Of course sometimes cuirassiers faced other cavalry units in close combat, but the only adversary they really had to fear, and did fear, were lancers who could outreach them.
The Swedish sword tactic when facing cavalry was to strike the first blow on the head of the horse of their opponent. And then cut down the opposing trooper as his horse went down. A pallask was heavy enough to easily cut through the neck or skull of even a big horse.

It's most fascinating unit. France also has cuirassier unit, Garde Francais IIRC, but their uniforms are from the Napoleonic Wars, 100 years later.

Here is another great photo of the unit:

In the end, the three Queens were the only ones that didn't disappoint when it came to the jewelry.

I don't think the Baden Fringe or the Modern Fringe can be considered disappointing. Both are magnificent tiaras and they were well accessorized with significant pieces from other Swedish parures/ demi-parures.

I was disappointed with Crown Princess Mary's wedding tiara and with Princess Sofia wearing her privately-owned tiara again, albeit with a different set of stones.

So both King Carl Gustaf and King Harald opted for wearing order collars. It makes sense as a Golden Jubilee calls for a collar day.

Too bad the collar may be now too heavy for Queen Margrethe.

Victoria said at her speech among other things:
"Your Majesty, dear father.
With you, I can hike safely in all weathers. Often in the sunshine. But also in rain, wind and snow. Regardless of the weather, you have the direction ready for you.
You are guided by a respect for the context of which you are a part, and which you know is bigger than yourself. Your gaze is always directed forward. On the mountain – and in office.
I am proud and grateful to follow in your footsteps. Tonight I want to say thank you. Thank you for all you have done, and for all you do.
For your country. For your family. And for me."
The whole speech:

The King's welcome speech, he said among other things:
"To be a link in a long chain is a great benefit. With love and confidence, I watch Crown Princess Victoria's dedication and focus in the task of representing Sweden.
My role as monarch is to stand up for the old while embracing the new. That was what I intended when I adopted the motto "For Sweden – With the times".
Three years after I took office, Sweden got a Queen. I could never have had a better life partner. I am so happy, lucky and impressed by her efforts for our country for so many years."

Unfortunately, Crown Princess Mary is not allowed to borrow a tiara and she could of for tonight but QMII does not share. Mary is in dire need of another tiara that is bigger then the Edwardian and wedding tiara. Maybe she could have added the pearls to her wedding tiara...but she still needs another bigger tiara added to her collection...I hope she does as she's had to do before and just bought herself one at auction. I'd love to see her in a new tiara...I don't want to have to wait 2 decades to see her in the crown jewels tbh. :whistling::ermm::sad:

I guess there are probably three people sat at the end of the table mirroring the position Anne Marie and Haakon are in. Fred could well be there, possibly directly opposite Haakon.

Why wasn't CP Frederik seated at the main table? I don't see him in the picture.

We see Jenni Haukio at the far left at the picture. Frederik sat beside Jenni Haukio at the end of the table. Between Jenni Haukio and Birgitta Ed, the wife of the prime minister. That was of course shown at the SVT broadcast.

The King did a great Speech .. speaking with around his neck his Order
and wearing his two Collars as 50 years ago .
Princess Victoria 's speech was moving , what a good speaker. I thought she would kiss her Father but certainly the Protocole did not allow.

Thanks, but I don't know why "of course"; we've seen him process many a time on crutches in Oslo.

Is the hall in Stockholm five times longer or something?

I think the main problem is that there is much more stairs at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. And to Rikssalen there is no lift available so you must take the stairs. That’s likely why King Harald and Queen Margrethe choosed to not take part in the entire procession

The Royal Court about the receptions for organizations:
On 13 and 14 September receptions were given for the King on the occasion of the 50th anniversary. The well-wishers were received in Princess Sibylla's floor.
Some of those who greeted the King were:
Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
Swedish National Archives
The Security Service
The Governors of Sweden
The Armed Forces
Fundraising for the Young Leadership Foundation
On September 14, the King also gave receptions in Lovisa Ulrika's dining room for representatives of business and the Scouts, which collected funds for the Young Leadership Foundation and for the establishment of a professorship in Young Leadership at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Many looked noticeably touched during the fantastically fine speech. Princess Madeleine was one of several who struggled to hold back tears, while Queen Silvia appeared to wipe away a tear.

I would say disappointing ast they are worn so often by the 2 Princesses. They have worn other tiaras they use not so often for Events annual like Nobel but why not for such an special Event which will takes place only once.
