King Carl XVI Gustaf's Golden Jubilee Year 2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Is the King's smaller collar the collar of the Order of Vasa? The necklace insignia seems to be the Order of the Sword.
That is correct!

According to the expert from His Majesty's Royal Orders in the broadcast from SVT, the collar and star of Order of Vasa were the ones that belonged to King Gustav VI Adolf.

I might have missed an information, but why Princess Bénédicte did not attend?

I think the main problem is that there is much more stairs at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. And to Rikssalen there is no lift available so you must take the stairs. That’s likely why King Harald and Queen Margrethe choosed to not take part in the entire procession
Perhaps you didn´t watch the live coverage, but King Harald DID walk on crutches, escorting the Queen of Sweden, to the banqueting table!

It seems this time they did not enter the Hall of State through the appartments of the Royal Orders like at Victoria's Wedding but instead walked up the big staircase at the other side and then walked through the entire hall.

The other way would perhaps easier for King Harald and Queen Margrethe as there are also stairs but not as many.

Yes, king Harald and queen Margrethe met the procession at the Hall of State and walked to the table. But they didn't walk with the procession from the start.

Best dressed at the Banquet, at this article is many photos of also other guests than the royals.

So glad we watched it! My husband wants to know what the older car was that transported them to the vasa after their carriage ride?

Did Countess Madeleine Bernadotte , the only Child of the former Prince Prince Carl of sweden attend.?

No, she wasn't among the guests. From the Bernadotte relatives invited were only Count Bertil Bernadotte of Wisborg and Countess Jill Bernadotte of Wisborg, Count Michael Bernadotte of Wisborg, Countess Kajsa Bernadotte of Wisborg and Mr. Christoph Dieterle and Count Claes Bernadotte of Wisborg.
I missed countess Marianne Bernadotte, but she is obviously too fragile to attend.

King Margrete II, King Harald and King Carl XVI Gustaf are the very last Royals whose parents were Royals too. They did love weddings and have sucessors . Well done.
Crown Princess Victoria will be the last Bernadotte.?

I'll never understand why every Swedish royal and national celebration has to be centered around a tv-concert. I wonder if it's SVT or the King that wants it that way.

Also King Felipe VI's parents are both royals.

And those of the Grand Duke Henri.

But this time, isn't it good for the reputation of the City of Stockholm, to organize an entrance free concert, where all people of Stockholm can attend?

I watched the live coverage from start to finish. The King of Norway and The Queen of Denmark obviously waited for the Procession inside ”Rikssalen” and joined them there so they did not have to walk in any stairs in live television.

The King fairly often attends concerts privately so i can very well imagine it is his wish… He is very interested in music

I can imagine the Swedish and British Royal Courts have been looking a lot at each other over the last years here because both seems to use the Big Open Air Concert-idea a lot… It’s an effective way to involve as many people as possible

The name of the dynasty will always be ”Bernadotte” just like the british dynasty will always be ”Windsor” even though they agnatically are ”Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg” since last year

It has been the same in the UK for quite some time now. In my humble opinion, it is an effective way to share the celebration with the people while opera and dinner galas are only for the country's political and social elite or foreign guests.

At last in Sweden they still have also a Gala Dinner for such Events unlike the UK.

Not to mention that, agnatically, the British dynasty was Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, or more precisely Wettin, until last year.

There is an important detail, however, that Prince Daniel, I believe, legally changed his last name to "Westling Bernadotte", so, if we were to follow a strictly patrilineal convention, that could be Princess Estelle's surname just as Queen Elizabeth II's male line descendants use the last name Mountbatten-Windsor when needed.

From what I understand, however, Estelle is officially registered with the Swedish Tax Agency without a last name like her mother. I don't know if the same applies to Oscar or if they are keeping that exception only for the members of the Royal Family who are in direct line to the throne.

The concert was pretty underwhelming. The cortege and Vasaorden, however, were glorious. It was good to see so many people cheering Their Majesties.

I also felt that the concert was not as big as it could have been…. Maybe it was a security question…

However the rest of the day was fantastic

I keep wondering if Princess Madeleine misses this kind of life. It must feel weird for her when she is back in Sweden, especially in major royal events like a golden jubilee.

EDIT: As a non-Swede, I must say it seemed like an impressive and highly successful jubilee celebration. I congratulate everyone in the Royal Court and the Swedish government who was involved in the planning of this week's events.

It’s a shame that Madeleine’s children didn’t attend with their parents. It’s not everyday you get to witness events like this for your grandfather!

Absolutely !
