LMAO. TBF, she had a UK designer hat on this morning and yesterday.

Ok so we are racking up the points for the Brit/Commonwealth side of things..I hope someone is keeping track!!!

Lovely black dress on the duchess tonight in Dublin ,looking very chic!

I have to admit I was kinda surprised to see black since it's a garden party but I like the look.

The black dress is stunning. A wonderful look.

Absolutely beautiful, Your Royal Highness!

Very nice! I’m liking her choices more lately. She always looked nice, but I do like what she’s been wearing post wedding better.

I've seen it be called a garden party and a reception. No one there was wearing what we would traditionally expect from a British garden party. And I did wonder about time before it started (I think traditional garden parties start in the early afternoon, no?). So perhaps the garden part was just for the fact that it's in the garden.

Yes I think it was the name of the party ..I was expecting hats and elegant garden party dresses!

Reception in the garden changes that expectation! Well now for tomorrow! I think we'll only get the one look tomorrow.

Well, just had a look at EW's AW18 collection - no, thank you! What atrocious pieces..... I genuinely wish British-based fashion houses would snap out of their current style of trying to design clothes so dreadful disjointed and ugly that they are called creative and interesting. They are not, they are just a weird amalgamation of completely random pieces that have zero aesthetic appeal. And this is not even for royal wear, just generally. It's horrendous all across the board. I am jolly when I can pick 1-2 pieces from a collection that are not completely ghastly.

Know what should happen? Somebody get in touch with Iluvbertie and learn her ins and outs of putting together spreadsheets and tallying things and set up a fashion designer tally like Iluvbertie does each week for the BRF duties and engagements.

Ain't going to be me. I'm not that into designers and fabrics like my sister is but she's slowly but surely getting me hooked. Baby steps yet. ;)

Meghan looks incredible. Three outfits today, three winners!

Gorgeous evening dress. I expect to see this one more often. It's timeless.

I could care less about designers and the like, but as soon as I read your post part of me started thinking about what such a spreadsheet would need and how to put it together....

Except for the cheap-looking belt the black dress is nice. I love a square neckline.

The dress makes her look younger and I don't really see a need for that. In a few pictures from the side it looks fine but it's a bit too angular for my taste (not just the upper part but there isn't much of a waist either).

This is the clearest picture of Meghan at the reception I can find. Still can't see the details of the dress, but great makeup and hair.

ETA:

She looks fantastic as does Harry, such a dashing couple. LTSM

Emilia Wickstead is the designer!

Fantastic of her for wearing Emilia. Shows she's a person who appreciates talent over social media driven controversy.

Well one can rarely go wrong with a LBD and the duchess pulled this one off effortlessly. She looked stylish and elegant. My favorite thing about this look though is her hair. Love the side part and the wavy curls.

As for her choosing Emilia Wickstead, a part of me suspected she would wear her again at some point but I wasn't expecting it to be this soon after those comments. Good on the Duchess, however, showing herself to be as gracious as I thought her to be.

I really dislike the belt as it looks hard and stiff whereas the dress looks soft and moves softly. Square necklines look good on Meghan and I quite like the tea length of the dress as it showcases her trim ankles and (drumroll please) her whimsical Aquazzura Deneuve suede court shoes. (I really want a pair of those).

I can't believe I am saying this because its been so long since I've loved ANYTHING of Wicksteads, but I do adore this dress. It is very chic and flatters Meghan so well.

Meghan looks absolutely spectacular tonight! Head to toe. Love the earrings. And her make up is divine!

she looks very very very pretty the dress is lovely and elegant, hair and make up are winners

Oh we got a dress from commonweath:cool:.

Love that little black dress.

A LBD from a Kiwi designer based in the UK. Glad Meghan forgave Emilia! I think the dress is beautiful, even though I love colour. The whole look is chic, minimalist, very Meghan, I think. It's been a day of surprises fashionwise, and good ones.

She looks stunning. Beautiful dress and styling :flowers:

I don't think many people care if the designer is actually british, as long as the label is considered British. Certainly a number of the 'british labels' are led by non Brits. The fact that EW is Kiwi though means she is a commonwealth designer even if British. Many of the so called British designers are British brands but not designers (Erdem is a Turkish Canadian, Issa's founder is Brazilian, Burberry's head designer is now Tisci who is the Italian who used to run Givenchy).

She wore 3 British/commonwealth linked brands tonight:

-dress is Wickstead of course
-earrings are Birks which is Canadian
-shoes are Aquazurra whose designer is London/Miami raised, and educated in London school of design

So England, NZ and Canada tonight. And Scotland (her purse) and England (hat) earlier today.

Fantastic look! Hairdo is long but shows the face. Love a square neckline. Don’t love the belt but it is fine.

Her hair tonight is by the same stylist as her second wedding look (think hair for the Stella dress). He traveled with them to Ireland.

Meghan definitely knows how to rock an LBD. She looks beautiful, confident, and most importantly comfortable in her own skin. Hoping the styles we've seen from the yellow Brandon Maxwell dress through today are indicative of the Duchess style we'll see going forward.

Also, compliments to George Northwood on Meghan's hair! I like it almost as much as the dress. I loved her hair for the wedding evening reception. Frankly I wish he'd styled Meghan's hair for the wedding. He's a celeb stylist so I'm sure he's in demand but I hope they've booked him for Australia.

(..)

Fantastic of her for wearing Emilia. Shows she's a person who appreciates talent over social media driven controversy.

I've seen several references to a controversy. Anyone willing to explain what it was?

Emilia Wickstead had some sour grapes after the wedding and said something not so nice about Meghan and her wedding dress (saying it was "identical" to one of hers and how everyone was saying it's an Emilia). She ended up issuing an retraction.

Thank you, jacqui. :flowers: I think I recall that now you mention it.
