If he sadly passes during the Olympics, and a funeral is held, will people like CG and Sylvia return for the funeral? I know there is talk Henrik wanted a more private funeral, but I'd think there would be at least a few foreign royals even then. The Scandinavian royals are so close. Or would Victoria go in their place?

CG will definitely go back or postpone his presence at the Olympics (if he would be invited). I can't imagine anything but a full presence from the Swedish and Norwegian Royal Families even if there is a smaller family funeral planned for H.

The court has confirmed that Frederik visited his father Friday evening.

Good that he is safely home and can be with his family. It must be terrible to hear that your father is seriously ill and know that you won't be able to be at his side until 12 hours later because you are on the other side of the planet....

Probably edited yes, Marie was mentioned in the first version.

I knew when the news was released about the benign lung tumor and Henrik having pneumonia that it was not going to end well. My own father had Alzheimer's and he lived for 10 yr. after diagnosis. His death came from contracting pneumonia, this brings back memories for me. It's callous to say, but Henrik's passing is better for him and his family than the long decline my father had. I wouldn't wish this disease on anyone or his/her family.

My paternal grandfather had Alzheimer's for 15 years. He lived relatively long until the age of 89 because his general health was otherwise very good (he never smoked or drank for example), but, close to the end , he was in a nearly vegetative state. It was very hard for the family, especially for my grandmother who lived alone with him plus a caretaker.

I don't know if PH is conscious at this time. If his general health has deteriorated with the lung infection, it is possible that he may be sedated and on a ventilator, but I won't speculate about that. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and the Danish people at this difficult time.

The Court Marshall is the head of the household department. The Household has to take care of the proper working of the monarchy in the first place but of course also cares for the members of the royal family.

The suite at Rigshospitalet is now an extension of the palace so to say: the Prince is there, the Queen and other members of the royal family come and go. They need assistance, they need security, they need arrangements in parking, where to enter, who has access to them, how to deal with the media, etc.

I can imagine that the Court Marshal has a responsibility for all that and that is why he is in close consultation with the Prince and the royal family. Think about Downton Abbey. Imagine that the Earl of Grantham is in a serious condition and hospitalized and no longer at Downton, I am sure Mr Carson or Mr Bates would remain close to the Earl, to be of any assistance to him or the family.

Will the younger grandchildren come to hospital?

Life is not kind to them at the moment but difficult times of uncertainty and at some point also grief is also natural parts of life. It's good that they don't hide the children from that. Now the children is included and they can see what happens, ask the questions they want to and feel included and close to their beloved grandpa regardless of what happens next. That's the best way to handle it. So plus points from me to the Danish Royal Family there.

Have any of Prince Henriks family arrived in Denmark I know he has a sister who's a nun?

Very sad time, Christian looks very sad in that picture

Agree completely - it's better to include them at this time than to have them speculate and be confused as to what is happening.

Today is the anniversary of my mother's passing from Alzheimer's. She lived 8 years from the diagnosis, which is average. Henrik has deteriorated so rapidly that I think there must be other problems which haven't been disclosed to the public. And that's as it should be.

His sister Catherine de Monpezat is traveling to Copenhagen right now according to his brother (source bt.dk)

I read he has eight siblings; are all of them still alive?

According to bt.dk 4 of his siblings are alive. 2 sisters Francoise and Catherine and 2 brothers Etienne and Jean-Baptiste.

They have talked to the son of the 85 year old sister Francoise . He says that his mother is very worried for Henrik and sad that she cannot travel to Denmark as she is herself in bad health.

More quotes from PH's family is coming in:
https://www.bt.dk/royale/prins-henriks-nevoe-til-bt-min-mor-er-meget-bekymret

PH's nephew, Guillaume Bardin, speaks on behalf of his mother, Françoise Bardin, who is PH's older sister.
"My mother has lost her voice, so she can't talk, but she is very worried about Prince Henrik and very sorry that she for health reasons is unable to go to Denmark.
I last saw him back in August at Chateau de Cayx where he was reasonably well. I would very much like to visit him myself, but I don't want to disturb either".

It must be hard for Henrik jr., Vincent, Josephine and Athena not to be able to see their grandfather.
