As usual, the target moves, yep. When it is shown, as I have, that she DOES NOT PURPOSELY show off her underwear, the target is switched to the 'we don't feel sorry for Kate because the paparazzi chases her because life is so hard for her' line of attack. Well my point is not let's have a pity party for Kate because she is chased by the paparazzi. My point is to debunk THE LIE that she purposely sits in the back of cars and spreads her legs for the cameras, which SHE DOES NOT.

Whistling,. and perhaps crickets, are preferred over bashing this woman with petty attacks. Yes.

Well said, L2C. Kate is no Sharon Stone, so I am afraid life is not going to be as interesting for some of the tabloids as they may have thought!

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are willing to make one off nasty comments, but when asked to explain their views, tend to shy away. If someone has a view they are willing to express, they should be willing to stand by their views!

Don't expect a reply, there are some posters who seem to be allowed to constantly post rude comments regarding those who don't think Kate Middleton is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Many are 'against' her whether they know her or not, they choose to think the worst about the girl, having only read about her in the tabloids OR in the majority of cases because they haven't heard anything about her in any of the media outlets. If I have a bad opinion about someone, it is based on personal knowledge or personal experience.

No one is allowed to post rude comments about other posters simply for whether or not they are a supporter of Kate. If you have a specific grievance, please PM one of the British Mods or Admins.

I've seen those Jade Goody articles (because every time I click on a link to a Daily Mail article posted on this site I seem to stumble across something about her) and the level of voyeurism is appalling, for sure. It reminds me of the days when executions were a type of spectator entertainment. Humans have always had a tendency towards voyeurism. But the one thing I really hate about the Daily Mail articles is how they purposely skew their stories, I think to get comments. They'll write an entire article about how fat so-and-so is, or how someone has a tiny almost imperceptible mole on her chin, or whatever, and as a result they'll get a barrage of comments with some people agreeing and others defending the person in question. That's exactly what they try to do with Kate, I'm sure.

Sometiems I feel like people have developed these elaborate constructions of Kate's personality/intentions that are really based on nothing. I can't say I "support" Kate or Kate and William as a couple, maybe because I don't know a whole lot about her, but by the same token...I find it just bizarre how people see Kate as an attention-seeker or social climber or the laziest woman in Britain when they know so little about her!

I guess I'm with SonjaPearl--I can't be for or against someone I don't know.

I like to think well of people, whether they're acquaintances or people I know only through the media. I also tend to distrust stories unless they're first-person accounts by someone who's witnessed something.

But sometimes, a person will rub me the wrong way, and I have no idea why. There's just something about the person. Know what I mean?

I have a feeling that Kate is not so much an attention seeker like, say, Paris Hilton. I don't see it as Kate seeking attention as much as the attention seeking her.

I thik that is where most people are, in the case of Kate. The public know very little abut her, and in situations like this, my view is that it is best to not be judgemental.

OK, OK. I believe you, really I do!

It is an unfortunate and inconvenient truth that there is absolutely no way to exit any sort of car with any degree of elegance when wearing a perfectly acceptable cocktail dress.

My only advice would be to have a serious word with her escort to ensure that, having exited the car in question, he should immediately go around to "hand" his lady out of the car.

This serves three purposes:

1. It is a basic curtesy and plain old fashioned manners to do so. and;

2. In so doing he puts himself between her and the paparazzi.

3. It denies the prurient the knowledge of what, if any, underwear she is wearing. Those zoom lenses are shooting far enough to see the brand labels.

Yes, I know William is a prince, but in name only. Until such time as he puts the needs of his partner/lover/female relative ahead of his own he remains just plain ill mannered. I know it is probably habit with bodygaurds etc. but that does not absolve him of the neccessity of courtesy.

MARG, that's great advice! William really could help her out some in those situations...

I like Kate, and I hope that they do marry. She has certainly put up with a lot from the press since she first began dating William. I think that because of his parents and their less than cordial marriage and divorce, he is hesitant to take the next step. In any case, he has famously said that he will not marry until he is 30. Let's hope that whoever he marries, it is a success, and a matter of happiness to both husband wife. I think his chances of happiness with Kate are good. They have known each other for some time, and still seem delighted with each other. This is one wedding that I will be happy to see.

i think your advice is absolutely excellent but i will say this, the cabs in london are a heck of lot easier to exit than the ones here in north america. and you would think that given williams knowledge of how the press can close in on them, he would want to go and help her out and, as you said, get between her and the press.

According to the French magazine, Pointe de Vue, an engagement is to be announced:

Point de Vue *.:.* Sommaire

I doubt this, because last fall this magazine said the same thing for Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock. And nothing happened!

But if something does happen, I wish them all the best!

Its an excellent idea for William to try and "shield" Kate from the press when she exits a car. The only problem seems to be that, if I am not mistaken, these pictures were taken when Kate was not out with William. I would be surprised if Kate and William were ever seen together in a taxi, as I am sure his security detail would not allow it.

Yes and in the magazine they say that a press release from the royal palace will be published later in the month and the wedding would be celebrated this year!
They say also that Kate has stayed hidden since the beginning of the year because she is preparing herself for this announcement and for the wedding.

So wait and see!!

I would love for that article to be true, but I'm not going to hold my breath -- I'll believe it when I see them at that long-awaited press conference!
