I'm surprised at how many of the words I can remember of these songs, and I wasn't even much of a Spice Girl fan.

When the Spice Girls didn't perform at the opening ceremony, there was LOADS of people on Twitter etc. who were seriously annoyed. Hopefully they've calmed down now.

I think the opening and closing ceremonies get a gold medal for the use of visual, lyric and spoken metaphor. Really - hats off! To design ceremonies that are both fun on the surface but mean so much more on reflection, while giving a nod to history and literature - it is BRILLIANT!

I'm having a huge attack of culture envy.
