King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima might not be present but of course they watched the 1500 m speed skating in which Ireen Wüst could become the very first Olympian EVER to win 5 individual gold medals in a row (divided between the 3000 m and the 1500 m). The very first time was when she was 19 at her Olympic debut in Turin and today, aged 35 (10 months and 6 days - also being the oldest female speed skater ever to win individual Olympic gold), she was up for her possible fifth Olympic Games to win an individual gold medal (in Sochi she won two individual gold medals). And she delivered! So, congratulations were in order.

Two days ago they also shared a congratulatory message after Irene Schouten's win on the 3000 m speed skating.
