That was quite a surprise.Could that new tiara be a present from her husband?
 
The dress per se is all right. Powdery pastel colours do not always work for Crown Princess Mary. This dress is an example of the above. I like a crinkled /gathered (I am not sure which word suits better) pattern on the dress and the fact that the dress nicely wraps her figure.
 
Mary does seem to favor 'sugary' colored gowns,(blues and pinks) She looks very beautiful of course but not my favorite dress.

I know she has a dress quit similiar - i think she wore it to a ballet whilst in the ealry stages of her pregnancy with Christian but im not 100% sure it is the smae one the top part looks different but it may have been altered

That was exactly what I was going to say, but I've just seen Belga's pics so I'll say that it IS the same dress, I'm just not sure whether its been altered or whether she's wearing the top part differently.

She also wore this dress to a wedding around the same time as the ballet (very roughly)
 
I like the shape of the dress. It has a sort of grecian look, which suits the new tiara. I don't care for the color, though. It kind of washes her out.
 
Mary chose a really beautiful dress for the gala dinner. It is just a bit low-cut for my taste, however she has the body to wear it.

The tiara is part of a set; the earrings and the brooch have the same design.
I assume this is a brand new, never before seen tiara, possibly not from the Royal Collection. Could it be a present from Frederik or the Queen on their 5th wedding anniversary?

I think Mary's dress and tiara were perfect for this event, she looked simply so beautiful. Frederik and Mary look incredibly happy. :):)

Do you think the new tiara that Mary is wearing is the same as the Midnatsdiadem by Charlotte Lynggaard that's in the tiara exibition?

wow great eyes that looks like exactly the same tiara. To me it looks like an American Indian headdress but what the hey. At least it's a change

No, I do not think it is the same tiara that you show but rather a brand new design.

I think that as usual, Mary looks just stunning! Simple regal elegance. Yes, the color is subtle but I wouldn't want to see a dress of this simple style in a bright color. It would completely ruin the look, imho. It would also detract from what I believe is the Star of the evening which is the new Tiara and brooch! A true Crown Princess in every sense of the word...
 
I think so too Pizzo :) It is also the conclusion on the Royal Jewels of the World board Royal Jewels of the World Message Board where Mary's new tiara is discussed.

I find the new tiara beautiful - and I so hope that it is a permanent addition. I have been looking forward to see the royal family starting to expand their tiara collection; during the last years we have only seen tiaras leaving the family via late Queen Ingrid's will (the Khedive) and the tiara following countess Alexandra.

This new tiara Mary is wearing - and the gorgeous brooch and earrings - will IMO work extremely well for a lot of occasions where the ruby tiara is too overwhelming; takes the pressure off her wedding tiara a bit!
 
Nice dress but not my favourite. CP looks better now than in 2006. Whole look is very good, elegant and appropriate for occasion.

I like Princess Mary's grey/light pink gown. She got a new tiara. I like the name of the tiara, "Midnight Tiara" with the brooch and earrings. Hope she will wear the tiara again.:flowers:
 
I think CP Mary look very beautiful in the pink dress, which is definately a recycle, a beautiful recycle. She look so much better in this dress now than earlier. Could it be more fitted to her body maybe? It isn't changed, but maybe more fitted? I don't know. She look beautiful anyway. :flowers:

The tiara is somewhat special. Not sure I like it, but it was a nice change to all "typical" tiaras.

She is amazing! Once again, she dresses like a CP should....
 
She is once again understated and elegant. She looks just wonderful. How proud the CP must be of his beautiful wife. She has taken on the challenge and she is winning.
 
This ones nice but its not leaping out at me as spectacular
