Mary has chosen some wonderful outfits over the past few days. She has looked extremely elegant at each event. I like the jewellery especially the brooch.
 
I agree that Mary has looked very good over the last few days. I wish she would find a different brooch to wear with the grey dress - yes, the christening one is nice, but she's done that already, and not overly long ago IMO.
I was really pleased to see that she delved back into her clothes from 2004/5, I hope that she will keep doing so and also mixing them with her 2008/9 pieces.
 
Mary looked like Royalty- plain and simple. (in a good, elegant, regal way). I too loved the brooch!
 
Mary looks like royalty just about every time she is photographed. She wears hats like no other royal, Imo. She so rarely gets it wrong....

Mary is dressed to dark IMO, the coat is lovely but boring.
The hat looks quite large for her and the hair do doesnt look nice with that hat. The hair do reminds me of the style she had last year but with curls.
Love the shoes and the clutch but dont think it matched the outfit.
Overall, is not bad but not liking it. I think Mary can do much better then this for this event.
For all the times she has been to this event, this is the least effort she has put into her look IMO.

I like the fact that Mary played it safe, according to the occasion. She looks very polished and elegant, like a royal should look. I agree that the hat is a bit big and the one-side hairstyle is not to my taste either.

Mary is a great hat-person and kudos to her that she goes for this style on various occasions - a style that not many can pull off and not only suits her well but makes her look very "royal".
 
I quite like Mary's hat - I find the black/grey ensemble very elegant.
She is using the colours most of us tend to use when we get around to October.
Love both ladies' hair-dos. Mary looks smashing from the side and Marie likewise from behind, a very pretty do for her.
 
I like this look, I think the grey keeps it from being too black. I would have loved to see some better jewerly. I don't care for those little blue topaz or aquamarine studs.

I don´t like the overall look. The coat is fine but too dark and boring. The hat looks great in some photos and no so great in other ones, but I like it. Great shoes and clutch.
 
Well she definately looks classic and elegant. The charcoal coat is a good cut and fits really well. Mary looks regal and royal to me. IMO, she had a perfect opportunity to wear interesting jewelry because the clothing is so basic, and didnt take it.

Instead she focused on the hat, which I really like. Gloves seem a tad bulky, I like the shoes. Her hair is beautiful with the hat, alot of royals fail with hair when wearing hats (think Camilla), but not CP Mary. Spot on!
 
Mary elegant as usual. The hat is nice, but I think the huge flower on the coat is a bit too much together with the hat. Her hair is lovely and the shoes classy.

Like always - very elegant... but today's outfit is a little boring. Anyway, I like the clutch bag and the shoes (from Louboutin I think). The hat looks too heavy on some photos (but the color is great). The hairstyle is great, Yes, she always knows what to do with the hair when she uses a hat.

She looks very stylish and I like specially the black flower.The hat is nice too and matches perfectly with the shoes:flowers:
 
loved her hair and the shoes are gorgeous , the overall look is nice

I love the hat and the shoes that is my favourite grey the outfit is a little boring but then it is a classic. IMO
 
Mary looks stunning as usual... regal, elegant, chic. I love her hair the way it is off to the side to offset the downward turn of her hat.
I am certain that you will see her wear this outfit again in the future as she recycles so well.
 
Black & grey for Mary today,superb as always!Beautiful coat,perfect shoes,lovely hat & clutch!
I wouldn't ask for anything more.

I think I would have liked black/red better, but stiil, she looks wonderful. I love how she looks in a hat.
 
Actually she looked like she belonged at a funeral of someone she sort of knew instead of the opening of Parliament. Some color like last year would have been nice.

But given that...I thought the cut and tailoring of her black suit was perfect, but the great hat was too big for her. If you look closely at it, it made her head appear about 6 inches larger around that it should have been. Plus, since it was windy, she kept having to grab it to keep it from flying off her head. However, she wears a hat extremely well and know how to do her hair to compliment the hat.

Also, I do wish she would invest in some other type of gloves than black leather. A pair of nice black peau de soie (did I spell that right) would have worked better...or even some dove grey to go with the shoes (which rocked) and hat. She needs to take a cue from QEII or the Princess Royal, they always have wonderful gloves...IMO.
 
:previous: What? Wear gloves like Queen Elizabeth and/or Pr. Anne? White or black cotton?? :eek: I hardly think that would look elegant with what Mary is wearing. Sorry, but I disagree.
