Yes, she always seems to be involved in everything she does, unlike other First Ladies/princesses who read a speech (written by someone else) from a sheet and then they go home and forget about the cause!I guess that´s why she is so successful-lots of discipline & diligence and always trying to learn new things to become more knowledgeable! She also looked very happy and stylish at the National Science Congress :flowers:

Letizia was a journalist before marrying a prince, so it makes sense that she is capable of writing her speeches where the others might need some help. Do we know for a fact that Letizia writes all of them on her own? She looks very involved and animated since returning from her holidays, but there are many pictures where she looked bored during the last year in particular.

We have no way of knowing if any of the CPs forget whatever cause they are promoting when they go home, Letizia included, but I would be willing to give all of them the benefit of the doubt that they don't.:flowers:

Even President Obama gets help from writers who design his speeches-I guess nowadays all public figures have some PR support and experts who advise them which is understandable as they have so many different topics they have to talk about! I don´t critisise them because they don´t care about every single project and set their own priorities & decide which issue they feel needs their support the most but there are some individuals who are present at every charity event while they seem to be bored when reading their speeches or helping people who are less fortunate than they are...that´s my personal opinion and you can feel free to think different but I will give all of them the benefit of the doubt that they don't,if you like ;-)

Letizia's training is in journalism and in news so it is a given that she is observant and very involved in what is going on. I have no doubt that she is well prepared when she is attends these functions. To me she seems more interested in social causes that in "wear your tiara" events.

I don't think the Princess of Asturias forgets her causes, this morning, in her opening speech(half in Catalan and half in Spanish) she mentioned the other day's cancer event she attended and the words of the doctor who spoke there. Today, after the conference ended and greeting the public who approached, the woman with her in charge of protocol told Letizia she needed to leave but the Princess wanted to speak with the scientist who gave a speech and her assistants before leaving to visit the sick children(as you can see, there are no pictures of any of these events), and she did.
There are also rumours from time to time of Letizia visiting sick persons or persons related to the foundations we can see her working in public sometimes, and people can say these are just rumours. However, in 2009, the father of a little girl with cancer wrote a letter to the editor in one newspaper to thank Princess Letizia for spending a morning near Christmas in a "private" visit to sick children in the hospital. Here is the letter: CARTAS AL DIRECTOR - Opinion_Cartas_Director - Opinion - ABC.es

I don't think Letizia forgets her causes either, and I didn't say that:flowers: My response was to someone who said that other first ladies and cps make a speech, go home and forget their causes, and that seems a quite the broad assumption to make.

I have never seen Letizia looking bored at a social event, especially her solo events. Military or religious events ? Looking serious or bored ? Whatever people want to interprete it, but they are solemn events, mostly she didn't look any different from people around her.
I don't know if she wrote all the speeches herself, but I have no doubt she has been very much involved in her speeches, not just read out something others wanted her to say. Also her speeches are more personal with brief stories of people she met, their words as inspirational source, plus good delivery of the speeches. Her old journalist background does help a great deal.

I am sure Letizia is involved in setting up her speeches, probably to a higher degree than others due to her background. But to put this into perspective, her speeches are on another level than Felipe's or JCs or even President/Head of States like Obama. The higher ranking you are, the more people are involved on a government / diplomatic level.

Its a difference if you do your own speech for a cancer charity, its nothing else than an essay that most people with a decent education can do on their own, or a speech on a matter of state.

Wow, what a dress! Simply stunning!

Thanks DonnaK. Its nice to see Letizia still hanging around her old friends who use to work in her field. Do we know if they meet regularly?
