They were made on April 18 on the occasion of the king's 50th birthday. I wonder whether they were a birthday present from the queen and her daughters for her husband and their father.

The new portraits are stunning - they look like something from a photography or fashion magazine. I particularly like how Alexia's freckles have been highlighted in her portrait.

beautiful photos! a bit different from the usual ones we see. now the king can have a wall of pictures of his four ladies :)

What wonderful photos! The girls are growing into beautiful young women. I love how all three inherited their mother's brown eyes!

Really nice pictures. Is it just me or does Ariane have her Uncle Friso's smile?

Amazing portraits. The girls look so pretty:flowers:

To me she resembles her uncle Constantijn a bit, so it must be something from the "Orange" side of the family ;)

Indeed, I hadn't noticed before but Ariane does look like her uncle Constantijn.

Amalia and Alexia both have a beautiful mouth.

:previous:

It is autumn holiday so the schools are closed for one week.

They call her by her maiden name: "Welcome to our city, Máxima Zorreguieta." :flowers: I know there are always complaints that Kate (of the BRF) and others are referenced by their maiden names. But it makes sense, actually.

:previous: Thank you polyesco.
Judging by their facial expressions it seems that Alexia and Amalia spotted the paparazzi in this photo :D
It's spring in Argentina at the moment, so they were probably treated to very nice weather!

How reconciliatory towards minority groups. The King of Spain should take more note.

Actually the website of the King of Spain is in Spanish, in Catalan, in Basque, in Galician and in Valencian: the official language and the co-languages. Including the Christmas greetings.

The Dutch King is not reconciliatiry or so. He sends greetings in the three official languages, of which Friesian and Papiamento are spoken by a very limited number anyway. The website of the Dutch Royal House is neither in Friesian nor in Papiamento. So there is little for the King of Spain to take note about...

For midnight Christmas service the King and his family were at the mediaeval village church of Soest (close to Soestdijk Palace and to Drakensteyn Estate where Princess Beatrix lives).

A bus from the Royal Mews in front of the church: https://www.ad.nl/show/koningspaar-op-kerstavond-in-oude-kerk-soest~ac30487c/116695326/

And the Christmas Speech of the King

It was a nice and modern speech. Probably this will be the last from the private villa on the royal domain De Horsten in Wassenaar, as in 2018 the extensive restoration of 17th C Huis ten Bosch will finally -in the sixth year of his kingship- be finished.

The King has various residences at his disposal but probably he wants to create a "homely" feel by doing it in his private villa. He could have used the mediaeval castle Het Oude Loo, or Noordeinde Palace, whatever the King wishes.

Very modern indeed. Emphasizing the value of strangers from different backgrounds becoming acquainted with one another.

As should you:flowers: Merry Christmas.

Absoluut mijnheer! The content of the message is more important than the medium of the language used which in itself can be politically loaded. Felicitations to al onze vrienden in Nederland: heel fijne kerst
