Which Royals Are Good Friends?

I don’t think or know that the Grimaldis were necessarily looked down on when it came down to Grace and Rainier (I know Queen Frederica of Greece was no fan of them, particularly Grace), but in previous generations that was the case particularly in Queen Victoria’s time when she would never consider a match between one of her descendants and a Grimaldi because they made money from casinos. But these days, in spite of some of the news on them, they are always invited to events even when Grace and Rainier were on the throne.

What was behind Frederica's dislike of Grace? I can imagine Grace's background as an American actress would have made her seem unsuitable to many blue bloods, but she seemed to win many over, including Queen Victoria Eugenia.

From what I’ve read I believe Frederica tended to be a roaring snob about such things as lineage and royal unions. Look at her children’s matches!

She already believed that the Grimaldi dynasty were a vulgar lot mixed in with casinos and of second rank anyway, and marriage to an American actress with all that Hollywood implied in those days was about what she expected.

That's what I figured. Makes you wonder what she would have thought of her grandchildren's matches.

I wonder what she would've thought of Grace Kelly's daughter marrying her nephew.
Given the circumstances of how the marriage came about, she wouldn’t be happy. She definitely wouldn’t have approved because of Caroline’s past and her ways. But I don’t think she would have cared that much because Ernst isn’t her child.

Many thought the same.

I don't think that queen Frederic was alone on that regard and it took some time for Grace to be accepted .The Spanish RF and in particular,Queen Ena seems to have take Princess Grace under her wing.
Queen Ena was also godmother to Prince Albert.

I have noticed over the last 15 years that all the Crown Princely couples of Europe are quite close in friendships and know that they can gossip among themselves and their conversations remain Private. They got to know one another through weddings and their parents anniversary milestones and various jubilees as well as funerals and various State visits and occasions.

I see them as like an exclusive club. They all have a pre determined destiny to adhere to and sometimes it is not easy for them. I have found them to be all very delighted in one anothers company. Frederik, Haakon and Victoria share a very close bond like brothers and Victoria is their sister. The three have done a few things together.

When I said Europe we must include Guillaume of Luxembourg, Pavlos of Greece and Prince Gustav of Berleberg.
And Edward and Sophie of Wessex. The Wessexes attended nearly every single one of the weddings except for Pavlos and maybe Philippe of Belgium. As representatives of Queen Elizabeth. This couple know the current European royals very well.

Kate and William
Don’t seem to
Be that close with any fellow heirs how ever Princess Ingrid seem to copy Kate in style and even have some of the same clothes that Kate and similar earrings and hairstyle clearly seem be really excited to show her and William around that park too would likely be closer if Ingrid was closer to will and Kate in age so hopefully they grow closer as Ingrid grow older and attend her future wedding

On the occasion of Willem-Alexander's visit to Denmark, including a private dinner with Frederik & Mary, Blauw Bloed commemorates the friendship between their mothers Beatrix and Margrethe. They first met in 1954 on a rainy summer day when Juliana and Bernhard -and their daughters - visited Frederik and Margrethe - and their daughters. Beatrix was 16 and Margrethe 14 at that time. According to Margrethe, the weather was terrible but they had a really good time inside. It was the start of a long friendship.

Frederik and Ingrid and their daughters....

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Princess Catherine-Amalia of the Netherlands and Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway have a WhatsApp group, says European royal correspondent Wim Dehandschutter.

That this group exists isn't exactly breaking news. It's been talked about by the media since at least Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra's 18th birthday celebrations.
Other Royal WhatsApp groups that we know of are those of the members of the Romanov Family Association (spoken about by Princess Olga) and members of the Habsburg family (spoken about by Archduke Eduard.

How would they know if Leonor is or isn´t part of the group? Though I can't see why not. AFAIK her parents also attended these annual meetings of crown princes so also Leonor must know her peers well enough.

Leonor knows the Dutch princesses, her father said so. And Leonor studied at the same school as Princess Alexia.
I believe she must have known other princesses, but we have no information about that.
Felipe and Letizia have a close relationship with the kings and princes of their generation. Therefore, the same must happen with Leonor.
Leonor has not yet appeared publicly with any princess of her generation. But it must be a matter of time until it happens.

It would most certainly be in both Leonor and her parents' interest for her to have the same friendly relationship with other royals as her parents and grandparents have.
