Mette-Marit's dress reminds me sort of Claire's wedding gown with the off the shoulders lace. However, I don't know about the hat she was wearing during the welcoming reception. It looked sort of like a newspaper boy's hat worn a bit off kilter.

I have a question about why Martha Louise arrived at the dinner reception escorted by her aunt and Ari came in separately. Why didn't Martha Louise and Ari come in together?

Because Ari isn't royal, so he didn' t walk in the royal procession, but entered the dining hall directly before the royals with the husband of Princess Astrid, Johan Martin Ferner, that also isn't a royal ;) :p

Thank you for answering my question, xicamaluca. Maybe you can answer my next one, too: If Ari and Martha Louise entered the reception seperately because he is not royal, does that mean that he and Martha Louise also did not sit next to each other or at the same "head table" as each other, too?

It seems like at a lot of these functions the royals get mixed in with the other guests.
I've seen a few pics of royals who aren't sitting w/ their family members.
Look at poor Carl Philip of Sweden in some of the nobel prize ceremony pics.

Wait...Mette-Marit isn't royal, she has a title, but she only got it by marrying Haakon. Ari married Martha, so wouldn't that make him royal too? That doesn't seem very "nice", although Ari does look like a blank sheet, Mr. Ferner had a medal type thing to wear, all the others had sashes, he had a white vest, how sad, I would've bought him a button to wear.

She has a title, so she's considered a royal ;) . Ari is married with Martha but he does have any title, so he isn't a royal ;)

:woot: Hahaha, maybe one of those big colourful "Happy Birthday" buttons. :p I don't know, I mean Mr. Ferner had one of those medals, Ari didn't have anything. And he looked so..he looked like a waitor with one of those white tux shirts. Hahaha..oh, a button.

Yes, MM has a lot of responsibilities like ... shopping! :innocent:
