That pearl and diamond neclace / convertible to a tiara, has not been seen for decades. In an interview with Princess Astrid, Mrs. Ferner, she stated that they had never seen this necklace. There are only old pictures of it from Queen Mauds younger days. Probably this one was dismantled or sold by Queen Maud. I have another theory about it: When she took all her jewels with her in 1938, and they were stored at Windsor castle from her death (1938) until the coronation in 1953, it could have been disappeared in the vault of Windsor castle. One will never know what happened to it...
The same can be said about Queen Victorias gift, the diamond and ruby riviere necklace in two rows. Strange that there are no pictures of Queen Maud wearing it, and never seen anywhere. Strange to sell the most valuable item from the wedding gifts. A gift from the most prominent person.
