Lovely story iloveroyals, Caroline is my favorite and I know exactly what you mean when you describe that dominating presence. She didn't have it when I saw her, she was at ease watching the jumping with Charlotte, Felix, and some other people I didn't recognize. Although, I would love to see her again and maybe witness that presence.

i think i know what you mean. confident, beautiful person radiates all the time. As i have mentioned in another thread, i think that beautiful people glows, and I guess Princess Caroline glows and outshine just about everyone . Charlotte btw, is another case altogether. Even as i love this girl so much, i cannot help but agree with you. Charlotte is just too shy or she just hates it to be the center of attention. Maybe that is the reason she doesn't shine all the time. But do you remember the time she was at the Red Cross Ball early this year? she seemed confident enough, and very well aware that the lenses would be focusing on her.... but she does not radiated as much as Princess Caroline doesn't she?

Maybe the issue of why Charlotte does not radiates as much as Caroline is because the way she was brought up? Remember, Princess Caroline was already the center of attention when her parent sold her baby picture to the magazine, and instantly the world has never stopped looking at her...so basically she was tuned in to that kind of attention.....Charlotte was protected by her mother from press, especially when Stefano died, all children were shielded from the public eyes...until now...Maybe that is why ...but then again, I maybe wrong...just my two cents

I think that you're in part right, but we must not forget that andrea charlotte and pierre are caroline's children and not Albert's. That it to say they should not bein the press as much as they are. For exemple, children of pricess Antoinette (Reinier's sister) are not showed in the medias because they are not in direct line for the succession.

so perhaps that the trio was not prepared ans maybe when Albert get children medias will leav them alone...who knows

Some time ago I watched a tv show about bodyguards and their job. I remember they maid a comparisson between bodyguards in Europe and in US. They said that in Us it is a thing of prestige to have 'gorilla' sized bodyguards so walk in circles around their clients and never live them alone. In Europe it is a thing of discretion, I know some security specialist said that with famous people in Europe, you won't see their bodyguards unlerss someone trys to do something stupid or bother them, and then they jump out of nowhere.

Yes, I am always amazed to see this gorilla looking body guards that surround the american celebrities. Sometimes it looks like they can't even walk in peace with this huge people aroung them. Here even the royals and the president have discreet bodyguards. They are very close to them in public acts but during their normal life they are not easy to spot.

Lucky you! I'm glad that she's gracious to smile at strangers; that proves that she isn't a snob like what has been said. I'm sure she would have found it funny if you did ask for Pierre's number.

regarding iloveroyals outstanding entry, some insight:

1) Princess Caroline in her youth and teenage years had been described by biographers and royal observers as an enthusiastic and rather exroverted lady, brimming with life. After her mother's death though, she transformed into a much more regal and conservative person which, observers interpreted, as a maturity which allowed her to be taken more seriously as Monaco's First Lady. Many believe it was her way of channeling her mother, very aware that her Grace's regal bearing placed Monaco as a major player in Royal Events despite its miniscule size and the fact that theirs is a Princely, not Royal, family.

2) I read in a biography a quote from a Monegasque, "Our Princess (Grace) acts more regal than any Queen does." Just like in iloveroyals' anecdote, Princess Grace had this air around her which gave the impression of a snob. Her friends however explained this as a result of her short-sightedness. She cannot see a few feet away, so she was confined to just smiling beatifically (critics even described her smile as simply plastered on her face and not warm and sincere). This also explained why she simply stayed in one place during gatherings and hoped people would come close to her so she can identify them and then converse with them. And those people who did so attested to her warmth and authenticity as a person versus her public persona as cold and indifferent.

3)Another reason why Princess Grace seemed distant during Prince Rainier's jubilee was that she spearheaded most of the public events, and her friends said that she was half-worried most of the time that the activities would fail. She was still sensitive to the Monegasques' attitude towards her as she did not feel welcome and accepted yet despite producing three children and representing Monaco in a way nobody else could. The event iloveroyals attended was, for Grace, a huge experiment because it allowed their subjects and guests to mingle with them rather casually, and the theme was that of a huge Texas barbecue. It terrified her because one of the major reasons the Monegasques took time accepting her was their general resentment to her "American-ness".

Rainier even said publicly that his jubilee is also a celebration of Grace's unquestionalbe influence and dedication to her new country.

Well, I just discovered tbhrc, in pictures of Caroline in the seventies, on p 27, post 537, posted 06-10-2006, that I appear on a picture that was in Bunte. (I happen to have that issue too, so I recognized it right away.) In the forefront is Caroline dancing with someone, in the background are people watching, and I am the first person near the white and red draping, wearing a white shirt, with a big camera and big lens hiding my face. I never thought that a picture of me would actually appear in the Royal Forums ! Of course you need a magnifying glass to see me, but still...

I agree. When I saw her for the first time I found very hard to describe how she is, how she expressed with smile and face, ... I found she is very very impressive like "a First Lady" but lot of energy and charming. I love her blue eyes.

Thank you Kokong ! You're not offended me I knew that on her unauthorizated biography, the Princess Caroline said if her is not a princess, she would like to be a "speech therapist for deaf children" so I knew she cares of deaf persons.

I saw many years ago jean raymond gottlieb (I think that's his name) in monaco. and two years ago I saw pierre casiraghi in a car with two young ladies, also in monaco.

Hope it's okay to post this here as this is about an encounter with Albert rather than Caroline - but he is family. Quite a few years' ago I was at the open air summer cinema in Monaco - the old one near the Sporting Club. Incredibly, Albert was in the queue for icecream immediately behind me. I did a double take but tried not to stare too much. He nodded and smiled affably & seemed quite content to wait along with everyone else. He was with two other guys who I later realised were his body guards. Needless to say I made sure I noted where he returned to his seat (which was beside a young blonde lady). The film presentation was Dances with Wolves - quite long I think. Approx. half an hour before the end of the feature, Albert left accompanied by "his friend", & hastily followed by his bodyguards. I have always felt this was a bit unfair on his staff who probably wanted to see the end of the film.
