Emma of Normandy, wife of 2 kings of England, mother of 2 kings, and stepmother to 2.

children with Ethelred:
-Edward the Confessor- he reclaimed the throne for the house of Wessex after the death of his half-brother.
*married Edith Godswin- marriage was childless and her brother Harold succeeded for a short time

-Goda- married Drogo of Mantes and had 3 sons. Later married Eustace II, Count of Boulogne, marriage was childless. One of her sons died in captivity of William the conqueror. The Sudeley family were her descendants through her son Ralph. A third son died in infancy.

-Alfred: he tried to claim his father's throne after Cnute died. He landed with a mercenary army but was betrayed and captured by Earl Goodwin. He died after being blinded. Earl Goodwin was father of his brother Edward's future wife Edith, and Harold Goodwin.

Her children with Cnute:

-Harthacnut- the first of her sons to take the throne. He took the throne after the death of his half brother Harold. he died of a stroke at a wedding. He was succeeded by his older half brother Edward in England, and by Magnus in Norway.
-Gunhida- married Holy roman emperor Henry III. They had only one child, a daughter Beatrice who became an abbess.

Her 2 stepsons who became king:
-Harold Harefoot- he is suspected to have had a son who became a monk. He died at the age of 24 from unknown causes.
-Edmund Ironside- was her stepson from her first husband. He was the son and successor of Ethelred the unready by his first wife. His sons were sent into exile in Sweden. Edward would later return to try and claim the throne but died shortly after his return.

She was also the great aunt of William the conqueror
-Emma's older brother Richard II of Normandy was William's grandfather.
