The caption says the King was planning a visit to England for a possible 'marital announcement of extreme interest', but it appears he was in poor health at the time.

The Portuguese state should buy these objects. But unfortunately, I doubt they will buy them. The state probably doesn't even know they're for sale.A watch, a collection of medals and a sword that belonged to King Manuel II of Portugal have been miraculously brought to the auction room of Hansons Auctioneers. These objects have been kept in England for almost a century by the descendants of a close friend of King Manuel II.

It is a shame that these historical objects of King Manuel II are being sold at auction.
