Well, her friends are saying one thing and he's saying another. In both cases there are good reasons for blaming the other side, so I think this is a case where we don't know for certain. I'm not sure why parental disapproval on his side would lead Diana rather than Hasnat to end the relationship. If she was looking for a way out, she might have invoked disapproval by William, but I don't understand why she'd have been more likely than Hasnat to break up because of his family. Maybe it was a mutual decision that they'd come to the end of the line, which would give both of them the opportunity to say the other had been responsible. Again, I think, given his statement at the inquest which seems to contradict what Diana's friends said (including fairly responsible ones like Rosa Monckton, if I remember right), this may be yet another case where the truth is somewhat clouded.
