Done with this wedding and this woman - what ever ounce of like and respect I had left for her just flew out (i’m Sure it won’t be a lost for her but I can’t imagine i’m the only one). How awful and terribly selfish (imo) of her to ask the prince of Wales’s to do this.

I see where you’re coming from. I’m thinking there really isn’t that much to Meghan’s family beyond Doria, and I’m hoping that this decision is partially because Doria isn’t comfortable doing it herself.

Not even 50 years ago this would have been strictly impossible. How times have changed.

Well, that would be a silly superstition, wouldn't it ?

After the chaos that was this week with her father, I wouldn't be surprised if Doria was uncomfortable. She wasn't initially doing it so her being tossed into that could have been too much for her. I mean I wanted it to happen but that doesn't mean she was into the idea. It is a lot to ask of someone at the last minute. At least Charles is used to it.

Definitely! It would have been cool to see Doria walking her, but it must have been sooo much pressure. I can definitely understand her. And it's such a lovely thing to see - her walking down the isle with her new father-in-law. I bet Meghan's super sad she won't be able to be walked by her dad, as she's often said she's "a daddy's girl."

This! Doria seems like a very low-key woman. Perhaps for many reasons she isn't comfortable with being on that level of attention. She might not want the commentary on her daughter's walk down the aisle to be an inopportune time for social commentary on race etc. I am also disappointed it is not she who will walk with Meghan but pretty sure there is a very good reason beyond sticking to tradition. I think it really should have been her from the start, not Tom Sr. But anyway, the Prince of Wales doing it instead is a firm statement of support from the BRF, so well done still.

On an emotional level I understand why having Doria escort Meghan would have been appealing, but from a visual perspective I think it would not have been good. Whatever Doria is wearing, hat and dress, it was chosen with the idea that she was going to be the MOB, not going to be escorting her daughter up the aisle. Depending on color and style (especially the style of the hat) I could easily imagine that she might end up overshadowing or distracting from Meghan. And, as they say in the marketing world, that would not be good optics.

So sentimentally, I get the appeal of the Doria idea, but Charles is a much better choice.

Doria not being comfortable with it, makes sense. I believe Meghan has some nephews and uncles (from her maternal side), but maybe she’s not close to them. I don’t know, I’m just not as moved as others about Prince Charles walking with her. It just would have been nice to have someone that really knew Meghan, walk with her into her new life.

Nothing really to worry about at all. Last I heard, Karma was very busy going out to lunch elsewhere.

I don't believe in superstition, life is to be lived, faults and all. Mistakes are to be made and learned from. There is no such thing as perfect, just imperfect people striving to live, learn and be better people.

Meghan and Harry are just people. I hope they have a happy wedding and meaningful lives together.

It seems she is walking part way by herself and Charles is mainly escorting her part of the way.

Not terribly surprising that Doria most likely didn’t feel comfortable with this. Reports came out this week that Richard Williams backed out of escorting Serena down the aisle an hour before her wedding. He is MUCH more accustomed to the public eye, and Serena’s wedding wasn’t a global event!

Meghan and Harry are just people. I hope they have a happy wedding and meaningful lives together.

And I also believe in free will, so no point for me in speculating too much about fate. My previous point was, however, that, whatever the cause that triggers a future event, there is a "right" way to make inferences about the future in the sense of minimizing probability of error or getting the most accurate possible estimate . Doing it based on superstition is usually inefficient in that same sense.

I believe this is a couple that after all they've gone through together to just get to this wedding, realize that saying "I Do" is not a sure fire guarantee of a successful marriage but rather a day to day thing where they face everything together whether it be the good, the bad or the really ugly.

That's what I mean with a long and happy marriage - they will face the inevitable storms together. Not happy as in no thunderclouds/rainfall ever, that doesn't exist.
