British Royal Family Engagements 2018

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Your twitter record of the CC is a godsend as it comes up more regularly than the online CC.

Charles doesn't like putting his events up too far in advance and never meetings etc.

Andrew doesn't put up anything that I can find.

Thank you.

I'm going to try and put the entire CC on twitter although occasionally abbreviated ( we don't need the entire address, just the general location)

If the on line CC gets sorted then I'll pull back but last year was a joke.

Totally agree about last year.

The fact that an event such as Trooping the Colour never appeared says it all really.

Weekly Update to 25th January, 2018

Amazingly the CC seems to be working properly at this stage of the year – but the interesting thing is that the online CC has been recording engagements that haven’t been reported in The Times. According to my source for The Times they missed three of Anne’s last week on the 18th and then some more this week belonging to Charles, Camilla, Edward, Anne, Richard and Edward …

Clarence House – 8*
Kensington Palace – 8
Holyrood House –
Hillsborough Castle –
Marlborough House –

The CC is listing HRH The Prince of Wales engagements under the heading of Clarence House but I believe he is still in Scotland and so they were actually at Birkhall. As they all relate to Scottish specific issues I can’t imagine that they would have travelled to London to have a meeting with Charles. When the engagement is at Dumfries House they are listed as such but Charles doesn’t have engagements officially at Birkhall (that I can remember anyway)

Royals who have Official Meetings with Politicians to 25th January, 2018

Over the years there has been a lot of criticism of Charles in particular meeting with various Members of Parliament. As someone who regularly reads the CC I am aware that not only does Charles do this but most of the members of the British Royal Family do as well. I thought it would be useful to keep a count at least of which royals meet with politicians.

The Queen – 3
HRH Prince Henry of Wales – 1 (Overseas)
HRH The Duke of York – 1

Future Engagements - February Totals @ 30th January

The Queen – 2
Philip – 0
Charles – 1 (2 others listed in the PoW website)
Camilla – 3
William – 0 – only an overseas visit – not in the FE
Kate – 0 – only an overseas visit – not in the FE

Andrew – 0
Edward – 22* plus an overseas visit at the beginning of the month to Sri Lanka
Sophie – 5 plus an overseas visit at the beginning of the month to Sri Lanka
Anne – 18 plus an overseas visit to South Korea for the Winter Olympics
Richard – 4
Birgitte – 1
Kent – 6
Alexandra – 4

*The FE has spelt out a number of engagements for Edward in India from the 5th – 7th February presumably after the visit to Sri Lanka about which there is nothing listed other than the 30th January.

The Cambridges trip to Norway and Sweden hasn’t made it to the FE at all.

The Duchess of Gloucester's visit to Spain for this weekend's Davis Cup was removed a couple of weeks back so not sure now if she is going but with only one engagement all month am wondering if there is something happening about which we have been told nothing e.g. some need for minor surgery?

Sophie's engagement on the 19th that others have reported was to be done with Kate has also totally disappeared. It was there but no mention of Kate and now gone completely.

One of Edward's engagements that was up for many weeks has also now disappeared.

Sorry for the late update but I am still waiting for the 15th to be posted on the online CC. Their last update was the 14th February and there have been a number of engagements since but how many and by whom I don't know.

Maybe tomorrow or maybe they are going to do what they did this time last year and miss two weeks in February.

Another day has past and another day without an update.

Seems that the CC is falling back into last year's bad habits of occasional updates rather than the regular ones they have been doing so far this year.

So sad that the BRF's own public relations is so bad that they can't actually update a website on a regular basis.

Weekly Update to 14th February, 2018

This is the update to the 14th February. I can’t do the full week as the online CC hasn’t updated and other sources often either miss individual royals or do a summary without all the details I use in my analysis. IF the online CC does update again I will include the figures for the 15th next week.

Royals who have Official Meetings with Politicians to 14th February, 2018

Over the years there has been a lot of criticism of Charles in particular meeting with various Members of Parliament. As someone who regularly reads the CC I am aware that not only does Charles do this but most of the members of the British Royal Family do as well. I thought it would be useful to keep a count at least of which royals meet with politicians.

The ‘overseas’ ones are where the royal in question meets a member of the local government other than the Head of State e.g. William and Kate meet with Stefan Lofven the Prime Minister of Sweden.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 15th February, 2018

This should have been up last Saturday for me here in Australia and the 16th, 17th 18th and 19th at least also available for me by now but nothing since the 14th. The 16th onwards wouldn’t be recorded until next week’s update but as it can take an hour or so a day to do the update it will mean more work in a smaller time when, or IF, they ever go up.

Thank you for all that you do IluvBertie and yes it is a shame that the site is not updated.

Nice to see the ‘third generation’ royals chugging along.

Update on the online CC updating:

They have put up the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st February.

They are saying there was nothing for the 15th, 16th or 17th. If anyone can confirm that there was nothing on those days I would appreciate it. If there was something on those days could someone PM those days to me as they will now never appear on the online CC based on past experience.

They are saying there was nothing for the 15th, 16th or 17th. If anyone can confirm that there was nothing on those days I would appreciate it.

They are missing events, as usual. Just a few I’ve seen photos of and which were put on the official royal family website under upcoming engagements:

Thursday 15th February 2018
The Prince of Wales will view the Bowes memorial stone inside The Church of St Mary the Less, St John's Chapel, before unveiling a commemorative blue plaque outside the former home of Dame Elizabeth Bowes, South Bailey, Durham DH1 3EQ.
The Prince of Wales will visit the Open Treasure visitor experience and unveil a commemorative plaque before attending a concert celebrating the life and work of Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry at Durham Cathedral, Durham DH1 3EH.
The Prince of Wales will view the Durham Light Infantry Collection Gallery and meet representatives of the Regiment and visiting school children at Durham University’s Palace Green Library, Palace Green, Durham DH1 3RN.
The Prince of Wales will meet representatives of Fire and Rescue, Police, Ambulance and Mountain Rescue Services at the new Emergency Service Centre, Wilson Street, Barnard Castle DL12 8JU.
The Prince of Wales will visit the John & Joséphine Bowes Galleries as well as seeing the Ceramics Galleries, Picture Gallery and famous silver swan at The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, DL12 8NP.

Friday 16th February 2018
Prince Henry of Wales, Patron, Rugby Football Union, this morning attended an England rugby training session at Twickenham Stadium, Middlesex.

Friday 16th February 2018
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit The Piece Hall following a multi-million pound project to transform the former cloth hall into a world class cultural and heritage destination, The Piece Hall, Blackledge, Halifax HX1 1RE.
The Prince of Wales will visit businesses and staff at Dean Clough Mills, Halifax HX3 5AX.
The Duchess of Cornwall will mark the bicentenary of the birth of Emily Brontë and 90 years of The Brontë Museum at The Bronte Parsonage, Church Street, Haworth, Haworth, Keighley BD22 8DR.
The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince's Trust, will see how his charity is partnering with the fire service in Rotherham to deliver the Team Programme to local young people at Dearne Community Fire Station, Manvers Way, Rotherham S63 5DN.
The Duchess of Cornwall will meet volunteers restoring locomotives and travel by steam train from Haworth to Oxenhope to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, The Railway Station, Station Road, Haworth BD22 8NJ.
The Prince of Wales will formally re-start the large furnace and attend a reception at Liberty Speciality Steels Visitor Centre, Doncaster Road, Dalton, Rotherham S65 3ES.

Weekly Update to 21st February, 2018

This update is not accurate and based on past experience it won’t be accurate from this week onwards. There is no update for the 15th, 16th or 17th February and so I know my figures won’t be accurate anymore.

From another source I have the entries in the CC for Charles and Harry for the 15th and 16th but I have no entries for any other royals for those days. I have no entries at all for the 17th. I believe, from press reports that Charles and Camilla did a day away which was predicted on their website but nothing appeared in the CC so I can only assume that that was an ‘unofficial’ day away. The FE does have a lot of upcoming engagements but it rarely includes things like ‘received’ or ‘meetings’. Very few of HM’s engagements, for instance, are ever listed in the FE as they are behind closed doors and the FE is largely a record of where the royals will appear in public.

Sorry folks but I can’t do anything when the online CC – the BRFs own PR effectively – decides not to update their website properly.

Weekly Update to 21st February, 2018 - Take Two

This update is now an update on the earlier update put up today. Thanks to VictoriaB who was able to send me through the CC from The Times of the 16th February (from other sources I had Harry only – not HM, Charles or Camilla) as well as the events I was missing for the Duchess of Gloucester for the 15th. I am not sure if my alternative source is complete for the 15th and/or whether there were any engagements for the 17th but …

I really do appreciate those people who are able to send me missing days as the BRF don’t care it seems.

Everything in red is different to the earlier post due to the missing days from the online CC. I does show how much is missing from my analysis if just one day is missed.

Royals who have Official Meetings with Politicians to 21st February, 2018

Over the years there has been a lot of criticism of Charles in particular meeting with various Members of Parliament. As someone who regularly reads the CC I am aware that not only does Charles do this but most of the members of the British Royal Family do as well. I thought it would be useful to keep a count at least of which royals meet with politicians.

The ‘overseas’ ones are where the royal in question meets a member of the local government other than the Head of State e.g. William and Kate meet with Stefan Lofven the Prime Minister of Sweden.

The Queen – 7
Charles – 2
William – 1 (Overseas)
Kate – 1 (Overseas)
HRH Prince Henry of Wales – 1 (Overseas)
HRH The Duke of York – 1

Guess what - the online CC has gone back and put up the missing days from last week - 15th and 16th February.

I will do a double check that my figures are accurate from that source this week.

Amazing - someone must have checked and noted that there are people (not only myself but others elsewhere) keeping records and noting missing days publicly.

Now it would be great to see them go back and put up the missing days from last year e.g. Trooping the Colour.

Your lips to the courtiers' ears, Iluvbertie! My guess is that they have hired someone on at a lower level that is tasked with keeping up with the details. A blessing, if so! ?

Weekly Update to 1st March, 2018

I have seen a report in the DM that Kate has done 38 engagements to the end of February – I have her on 40 to that date so maybe I will do an analysis by date to see where I am adding two to her total – for fun.

Some people may be wondering why there is nothing yet for Meghan when she is attending events. The answer is simple. She is not recorded in the CC as attending any of these events. She was in the FE once but only the once and then that event wasn’t recorded in the CC and my figures are based only on those that appear in the official record of engagements as set out in the CC.

Iluvebertie, That's a fantastic summary!! How interesting! Thank you for your hard work!!

Call out please:

Anyone who has access to The Times.

Can you confirm that there were no engagements for the 3rd or 4th March. The online CC goes from the 2nd to the 5th with nothing in between. It would not be unusual for a weekend to have no engagements but I am just checking.

Thanks - please PM rather than post if you are able to reply.

Weekly Update to 8th March, 2018

It has certainly been a busy start to the year with over 600 engagements so far. What makes that unusual is that January – February are a bit slower than the spring and autumn months when most of the work is done.

Philip undertook three engagements this week – all receiving someone so inside the palaces but nice to see him still doing things even if he isn’t out and about being ‘Philip’.
